Who needs to organise a hol all the way over in South America when you can linger beside the llamas at Five Acres Farm Campsite in Derbyshire? This park full of furry, friendly animals may not be within spitting distance of treks to Macchu Picchu, but it does have Peak District paths for hikes and cycle rides on the Monsal Trail starting from a five-minute drive away. The views are also nothing short of lush: the site is surrounded by wide open fields, and walks can be had without needing to get in the car towards the nearest settlement of Wardlow and up to Hay Cop (20 minutes on foot) for a look over the local landscape. If you’d rather dig into dessert than dawdle, the tarts and puddings of countrywide renown are at Bakewell, the only market town in the Peak District and a 15-minute drive from the site. Not too stuffed to think about stocking up on supplies after sampling the wares? Food stores are here too and other urban areas worth a wander for chocolate-box houses and cutesy craft shops include Tideswell, Castleton, Bamford and Chatsworth, all within 20 minutes. Plenty other activities can be had in these towns too: Tideswell’s got the impressive St John the Baptist Church to have a gander at; Castleton’s known for its caverns where the famed Blue John stone is mined, and Bamford has three different dams to trek around. Chatsworth, meanwhile, is home to swanky stately mansion Chatsworth House – yep, that one mentioned in Pride and Prejudice and regularly voted Britain's top country house.

Top spot with neat facilities & ace views. Campers love the roomy sites, helpful staff & chill vibe. Fire pits for hire, heaps of walks & sights nearby. Showers can be a bit dodgy pressure-wise, and you might queue up at busy times. Cracking place for a cruisy break.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Everything. The toilets are immaculate and there’s plenty of them. The washing up area is fab, stocked with bowls and washing up liquid. We didn’t use the showers but they looked clean and with a little changing area inside they were just what you need when camping.

The woodshed housed fridges and freezers to re-freeze ice packs which is very handy.

The pitches are spacious and flat and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The farmland is very picturesque and we loved listening to the animals in the nearby fields.

The campsite is well laid out and the staff are friendly and welcoming. We even had a hedgehog visit in the night to steal our dogs dry food 🤣

Disliked Nothing! Not being able to have a fire pit was disappointing BUT we totally understood the reasoning due to the hot weather. We just ate our marshmallows raw… 🤣

Liked Absolutely everything the pitch was spacious and kid and dog friendly with sheep surrounding which we loved

The amenities were spot on every time I went for a shower or the toilet the owner was cleaning something never went there and thought it needed cleaning

Loved how there was a drinking Water sink available to refill our water containers.
A wash room with sinks and washing up liquid to keep on top of cleaning.
A space which had a fridge and a freezer for ice packs

Overall really friendly wonderful surroundings and close to bakewell which is a must to visit.
Amenities were 10/10 and would highly recommend 👌
