Μου άρεσε It is the most blissful campsite we've been too. Nestled in the trees, our pitch was in a sunny clearing giving both sun and shade. We couldn't see or hear the other campers, only the calls of the birds and the shrieks of the foxes. We had our own compost loo and a firepit to while away the evening (the pit, not the loo). Gorgeous.

Μου άρεσε Absolutely fabulous campsite. It has a lovely restaurant, bar and pool. The grounds are stunning and staff v friendly and helpful. So good.

Μου άρεσε This is a lovely, small campsite right inbetween Cheddar and Wooky Hole. The summer camping field was spacious with stunning views across the Somerset levels. Best of all (for the kids) the pool was open! There is a little bar and restaurant on site and the staff there are keen to make sure you have a great stay. We saw shooting stars one night - magic.

Δεν μου άρεσε Nothing major - the pool isn’t huge and when someone was sick in it, we weren’t sure the staff had been told. The showers are great - as long as you’re the only one in them (there were only 2 working in the block we were near) as the water pressure isn’t great. My advice: pick your moment!

Μου άρεσε Absolutely stunning site. It is situated in a valley so we were protected from the wind but not the glorious sunsets and night sky. It’s back to basics in the best way (wild wees are encouraged!) but only 20 mins from West Bay and civilisation. Fab.

Δεν μου άρεσε Nothing. But if you are after mod cons like showers and flushing toilets this isn’t for you.

Μου άρεσε This campsite is in the tiny hamlet of Porto Corallo, a gorgeous beach and marina area. A pebble beach (complete with a sea full of fish to gaze at while snorkelling) is just 40m away from the back gate and a sandy beach is a short stroll down the road. Our pitch had a shack to pitch under which saved our bacon from the 40mph winds. There was a pool (more later) a little supermarket and the toilets and showers were clean.

Δεν μου άρεσε Everything is extra. Not only the hot water (€0.50) but the pool too (€1 for kids €2 for adults in July, more in August) which was not advertised on Pitch Up. We had a great pitch and it was boiling, so we coped with the lack of hot water but it was a shame the pool was an add on. You can buy a card to cover you for the week but it’s not advertised well. Ask. Be aware, Porto Corallo doesn’t have any shops (although a lovely restaurant) so you’ll have to drive some distance to find a supermarket.

Μου άρεσε Friendly and welcoming, good spacious pitches and fab facilities for the kids - even without the lake being open. If it had been, the boys wouldn’t have wanted to leave.

Μου άρεσε This brilliant find is tucked away in the mountains and, as such, is a quiet, safe friendly site. They don't speak any English but even with our rather dodgy GCSE French from 20 years ago we got by. The pools are cool and clean, perfect to dive into to escape the heat. You can't have BBQs which are charcoal here, but gas or electric is fine. A few people even had proper fridges! The pitches are generous sized and we saw caravans and motorhomes set up with little bother, while a 10man tent had plenty of room. With our five man, we had room to spare! Nearby is the gorgeous Lac de Saint Croix which has beaches and the clearest water - it's like a Bounty ad. At night there is entertainment if you want to get involved but it finishes quite early and we tended to sit on our pitch and chuckle at the Euro pop. The facilities are basic but fine for what you need. All in all a jewel tucked away.

Μου άρεσε This site is only 25 mins from Paris by train and extremely reasonable. The owners speak great English (and German and French and probably Spanish too!) and will give you any advice you're looking for including the best tickets for your journey into the capital. The pitches are separated by hedges and a great size. The place was extremely family friendly and on our second night we had a meal in the bar which was lovely - although there was quite a wait for no obvious reason. The pool is small but great for our kids of 9, 6 and 4 (and 38) and for a short stop on the way down south it was brilliant.

Δεν μου άρεσε The toilet block near us was closed on the second night but another was very close by. Be aware, the walk to the station is about a mile, but really it was neither here nor there when you consider it.

Μου άρεσε If you are looking for rolling hills where the only traffic is a tractor, Moonfleet is for you. The pitches are in a sloping field with electric on one side and not on the other. There are several WCs including two in a shepherds caravan, which are clean and smart, although a little chilly when we visited. The kids loved the duck pond, although one did get attacked by a goose, but that just added to the adventure. The site is very dog friendly and our hound enjoyed the trip as much as the rest of us!

Δεν μου άρεσε When we stayed it was VERY windy. It's probably worth checking the weather. The site is also a long way from civilisation, although there is a lovely pub just a short walk away. Handy if you can't light a bbq because of the weather. Dorchester is about 15-20 min drive through tiny lanes. They also offer a fire basket, although you do have to pay for the wood and you can't bring any yourselves.

Μου άρεσε The pools are absolutely fab, surrounded by fake grass and have a pool attendant at all times. Our boys adored splashing about and the Middle one learned to swim. Ideal. The pitches were roughly the same size under pine trees and, although we were fairly crammed in at times, you didn't feel on top of one another. Actually it was quite interesting from a people/tent watching point of view! The campsite has strict quiet times between midnight (great) and 9am (not so great with a boisterous two year old in tow but I think we managed). It is situated just outside Barcelona, near the airport - of that more later - and once you master the complexities of Barcelona's road system it is fairly quick to get into the centre of the city. If you don't fancy sightseeing, the Med is a short walk away and lovely and warm. The beach seems to go on forever and when we went was not overly crowded. There are some great beach front restaurants too. Security is tight which meant we felt safe enough to leave our more valuable belongings in the car which we parked near but not by, the tent. The showers were rainfall-style (I'd have brought it home with me if I could) and very clean.

Δεν μου άρεσε The site is right under the Barcelona airport flight path, which does vary, but often there are jets thundering overhead. When we arrived we had serious second thoughts about staying but before long we blocked the noise out. And the kids liked plane spotting so it wasn't a major problem. The on site shop did some lovely dresses and the husband certainly appreciated the ice cold beer, but for essentials we needed to drive out to the Carrefour (again navigating the crazy one way systems). There was no place to put ice packs so keeping anything cool without an electric fridge was a problem. We were unusual for the fact we stayed nine days - most campers used it as a stepping stone to go elsewhere - but it met our needs. One problem though : pitch up booked us a tent and a car, but the campsite told us we hadn't booked any people which would mean the price was considerably higher. However the staff agreed to honour the price we had agreed through pitch up which I was extremely grateful for and impressed with.

Μου άρεσε The campsite is close to several dog-friendly beaches and at Bude there is a great swimming pool by the sea. The site is very friendly and the pitch we had was soft and flat. The small park for the kids was great and they also loved the loos (?!). You'll have to go to find out why...

Δεν μου άρεσε There's nothing to dislike. It's family friendly, simple camping in a beautiful part of the world.
