Μου άρεσε A beautiful & peaceful site, we stayed this weekend just gone. We had a beautiful pitch all to ourselves, it was private & we couldn't see any other people campers from our lovely spot. The owners of the site we lovely, welcoming & helpful. We will definitely be back in the autumn, when there are hopefully less ticks around as it really stressed me out with them being on our dogs & also my fiancé had a couple on him.

Δεν μου άρεσε The only thing that spoilt it was the sheer amount of ticks there was, we have camped in woodland type camps this time of year before but never encountered this amount of Ticks before, I know this is beyond the control of the campsites owners but if there had been some kind of notice warning when booking that there may be a high volume of ticks at certain times of the year it would have been helpful. Thankfully there was a pets at home near which we went to to buy spray for our tent & treatment for our 2 dogs.

Από τον διαχειριστή: We are sorry to hear you experienced ticks during you stay. Unfortunately ticks are present in any countryside setting. Interestingly, today's BBC Devon news coverage has reported that 'Devon and Cornwall have the highest rates of tick bites in England'. As responsible campsite owners we do however always display an NHS poster with their tick advice as well as providing a spray and tick removal tool. As to your suggestion of a warning about tick levels at the time of bookings, I'm not sure what we could do? How would we know from one day to the next what the volume of ticks could be? Perhaps research of the areas to camp in at certain times of the year should be the campers responsibility? Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your pitch.

Δεν μου άρεσε Unfortunately after we had pitched our tent we found out that the neither the showers or the pot was facilities were working. I phoned the owners & they informed me they had sent me an email a week earlier offering either 25% off if we still wanted to stay or a full refund. We didn't have the relaxing break we had planned for as it just made washing pots & having a wash yourself very difficult having to use bottled water to do this. Also the toilets barely worked. You can't walk all of the woodland area as there are 2 gates saying no one is permitted in the rest of the wood, so all you can do is walk around the very small campsite. They did supply bottled water but 25 litres of water to wash pots, use as drinking water & to use to have a wash with & between 2 pitches does not last long & was gone in less than 24 hours. So I had to text the camp owners as we had no water left, they did bring some more but all in all the whole mini break was spoilt & I had planned the break for myself & my partners 15th anniversary too. They did refund me 50% of the cost of the holiday but that didn't make up for our little romantic anniversary break just being so stressful because of everything.

Unfortunately, 10 days before the end of our season, the water pump for the showers and pot wash broke down —an unforeseen issue that can sometimes happen. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to repair it in time. This left us with two choices: either cancel all bookings or inform our guests about the problem, offering a full refund, assistance with finding alternative accommodations, or, if they still wished to stay, a 25 - 50% discount on their booking. We felt it was only right to leave the decision in our guests' hands. Sharon was informed about this on Monday 23rd September, with her stay starting on October 1st—eight days in advance, she decided she still wanted to stay with us and receive a 50% discount. For those who chose to stay during this time, we provided sealed bottled water daily, given the circumstances. While it can be tricky to anticipate exact usage, we supplied seven 5-liter bottles daily (30-35 liters) for the four guests. Additionally, I texted Sharon to let her know that spare bottles were available under the sink if needed, which she acknowledged and thanked us for. As for the other facilities, I personally checked and cleaned the toilets, and they were in working order. I even asked Sharon’s partner twice during their stay how everything was, and all feedback was positive and complimentary, with no mention of any issues. It’s disheartening to receive this review as at points it's factually incorrect, especially as we work tirelessly to ensure a great camping experience for all our guests. While certain factors were out of our control, we did try our best to accommodate Sharon under the circumstances.
