Guests will want to stick to the coast as much as possible, of course, and the big draws of Cannes and Saint-Tropez are both about an hour’s drive away. Visits to the former are recommended for the famed film festival, a host of museums and markets, and some stunning abbeys and island forts, while travels to the latter mean access to gorgeous beaches, modern art and maritime history. Prefer not to have to navigate twisty coastal roads during high season? Guests can board the train to Cannes from Le Dramont station, a 15-minute walk or two-minute drive from site, and settle in for the half-hour journey. Those going to Saint-Tropez can opt for a ferry trip instead… It won’t save time, but it will certainly be pretty. Closer to home base, opt for explores of Saint-Raphaël (15 minutes) and its basilica, gardens and casino, or travel onwards to Fréjus (20 minutes) where an archaeology museum, Roman ruins and a wealth of watersports keep visitors busy. For more leisurely days spent without too much travel, opt for passing the time at Fréjus’s Aqualand theme park or Luna Park amusements, or have a wander among the animals at the nearby zoo (25 minutes).
