Take a trip across this little peninsula to Ebeltoft (10 minutes by car; 20 by bike or bus) to wander through its pretty Old Town. Get a taste of the past at the Old Town Hall museum (complete with dungeon for naughty nippers) and on board the Jutland frigate, the world’s longest wooden warship at a sizeable 71 metres. If you’re more into the here and now, there are some splendid contemporary exhibits at the Ebeltoft Glass Museum. You may not imagine coastal Denmark to be a good place for a safari, but this area’s surprisingly well served with zoo visits: take your pick from Ree Park Safari (20 minutes’ drive), or Scandinavian Zoo or Munkholm Zoo, both half an hour away. Underwater critters small and large can be seen at Kattegat Center aquarium (40 minutes) – and one of them could be you if you book a dive to get in the tub... There’s a heap of outdoorsy activities to be had at Mols Bjerge National Park half an hour away, including hikes, horse riding and watersports; to get that heart beating a bit faster, ride the rollercoasters and waterslides at Djurs Sommerland theme park and waterpark, 40 minutes away.
