Fishing and fauna? Barn owls and kingfishers are among the residents you might encounter among the six acres of wildlife haven of Bainside House in Lincolnshire, with more feathered and furry critters easily spottable in the surrounding countryside via serene strolls along the waters of the Bain. Fish should be easily spotted on site as well: Bainside House's main attraction is its 1.75-acre fishing lake stocked with carp, bream, tench, perch, rudd, roach and barbell. Fishing not your thing? Golf courses and cycle paths are nearby, or you could amble along to Woodhall Spa, zip along to Lincoln, or hike the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Lincolnshire Fens or the Viking Way. (Whatever you pick for your day, round it all off with an evening at the topping 16th-century pub next to the site, which serves good food and a range of cask ales.) Among the basic but well-maintained amenities at this friendly place are a toilet and shower block with disabled access; recycling, and chemical disposal (only biodegradable or cesspool-safe chemicals to be used here, please). Bainside is for adults only.

Μου άρεσε Nice quiet little campsite close to Woodhall spa Village .
Fishing onsite ( small lake ) didn’t catch loads but all fishings unpredictable!
Lovely grass pitch was quiet when we went .All the facilities you would expect 2 shower /toilets ( one of which is a huge disabled one ) and a separate toilet Although little dated they were all lovely and clean .Wifi was great and phone reception too ,which was a godsend as blokes fishing all day ! I could relax watch Netflix when I wanted and plan our next fishing trip .Would return but maybe not just yet as new to caravanning so plenty to explore .
Great hosts Paul /Fiona? loved Pauls tank ! And the honesty shops a great idea
Chicken free roaming ,were hysterical to watch !

Μου άρεσε Small site, very friendly owners. The honesty shop/hut is a great bonus. Bonus of a pub next door. Lovely village with plenty of local attractions.

Δεν μου άρεσε Hooks for clothing and towels in the showers and a shower caddy to put shampoo etc. A seat/bench in showers as difficult to get dressed.

Both shower blocks have buffets which can be used to place bags on or to sit on these are situated just by the doors, one block already has clothing hooks fitted. We agree that adding some hooks to the other shower block would be beneficial and will look into this, along with a shower caddy.

Μου άρεσε Nice quiet site and Paul was very helpful(lent me an hosepipe as mine was just too short)along with his good lady. Toilet clean and tidy, shower was nice and hot!. Small shop on site which offered milk and ice creams, plus other things. Nice pub on the doorstep.

The layout is quirky, pitches close to each other.

Μου άρεσε Just back from a weekend at Bainside House to finish our mini tour. The site is very well situated with pitch options and the facilities were very clean. There is an honesty shop which is handy including very yummy eggs.
The pub next door is well worth a visit for lunch or dinner, advisable to book especially on the weekend.
There are plenty of local walks and Woodhall Spa is a very quaint village with plenty of fab coffee shops and amenities.
This site is perfect for any occasion, very good value and the hosts Fiona and Paul are very friendly ⭐️ ☺️

Μου άρεσε The staff were friendly and the campsite was kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The little shop was well stocked, the pitch was level with lots of room between each other.
Nice walks around the area and is set very close to the village pub which sold great food and is dog friendly. (In the bar)

Δεν μου άρεσε Nothing at all but I didn’t give it 10/10 because wife always tells me nothing is perfect. And who am I to argue

Δεν μου άρεσε Dirty/black mop in bathroom. No lights in toilets during day, only a small window to allow light in, not ideal if wanting to shave.

We’re aware of the lighting in the shower block and are already planning to have all the lights sensor-operated next season. We do also have a shower block with a pull switch, which may have been more convenient during the day.

As for the mop, it’s used to clean muddy footprints and mop up excess water to help prevent slips. Despite regular bleaching and changing the mop heads, unfortunately keeping them perfectly white is a challenge!

This amiable place is close to the Bain river, in the small village of Kirkby on Bain between Horncastle and Coningsby. Walking trails and cycle paths are easy to access from here, along the river, from the village and to the nearby Sites of Special Scientific Interest of Kirkby Moor and Moor Farm Nature Reserves, to the west of Kirkby on Bain. The Lincolnshire Wolds are six miles away. The handsome market town of Woodhall Spa three miles away is a Fairtrade village with a selection of top shops to spend some money at, and access to long-distance walks of the Fens including the Viking Way's 147 miles from the Humber Bridge in north Lincolnshire to Oakham in Rutland. (Much more easily, there's also the Spa Way, a traffic-free footpath of just over three miles from Woodhall Spa to Horncastle.) Golfers can shoot along the courses and academy of Woodhall Spa's National Golf Centre, voted among the top 25 courses in the world; and if you'd rather have putting, a course plus tennis courts, an outdoor pool and a croquet lawn are at Jubilee Park three miles away. For a day trip (or two), the castle, cathedral and shops of Lincoln can be reached in about 21 miles.
