Camping La Albolafia

The top attraction in the area for kids (from June to September) is undoubtedly the Aquasierra waterpark, half an hour’s walk or six minutes’ drive away; boys, girls and grownups alike will have a mirth-filled time idling in the lazy river, hurtling down the kamikaze run and bounding about at the beach pool. If you’re fond of donning your birthday best, then you’ll be rather chuffed to hear that there’s a separate naturist area here too, while another separate VIP area has a raised and shaded platform with sun loungers, tables and chairs for those who fancy spending their family day out in the style to which they’re accustomed. Kayaking can be done in the nearby Guadalquivir river or over at San Rafael de Navallana Reservoir, around 20 minutes’ drive away. The Sierra de Cardeña y Montoro Natural Park is 45 minutes by car for hiking; pick up maps and other tourist info at either of the park’s visitor centres in Cordoba or Cardeña (the latter is the departure point for several splendid hikes through the park). Over in ancient Córdoba there’s heaps to see and do: once an important Roman city and then a major Islamic centre during the Middle Ages, its most famed attraction is La Mezquita, an eighth-century mosque that became a Catholic church in the 13th century.
