Selina Playa Venao

Set on the Azuero Peninsula's stretch of Pacific coastline, Selina Playa Venao is located on the edge of a gorgeous sandy beach and surrounded by palm trees, surf shacks and fresh fruit stalls. Further adding to the scenic backdrop, the site has excellent furnished tipi accommodation with access to the resort's wide range of on-site facilities, including a fully-equipped communal kitchen, a Caribbean-inspired restaurant, a beachfront yoga deck where you can practice stretching, an outdoor pool and an activity centre. A coworking space is also available, and after a few hours of productivity you can reward yourself with a walk or swim in spectacular tropical surroundings… Some of Panama's best watersport opportunities are to be had at Playa Venao, with on-site expert guides on hand to steer you through the ins and outs of surfing, windsurfing and kayaking. Back at base, kick back in the fairy-lit garden in the evening, listen to live music performances and get moving to the sound of late-night DJ sets by the bonfire. Selina Playa Venao is located in the Los Santos Region in the small town of Las Escobas del Venado. The site can be easily accessed from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City courtesy of a direct shuttle bus service (ask in the ‘special requests’ box when booking).

Selina Playa Venao is about three kilometres' walk from a viewpoint with excellent panoramas over the beach and surrounding forest. There's also a fishing company in town that can organise offshore experiences with guests who want to find out about what's swimming in this pretty part of the Pacific. La Tronosa Forest Reserve is a 40-minute drive along the coast. This exceptional tract of wilderness is full of rare animal and birdlife – make sure to find a reliable local guide before venturing into these highlands, though, as this spot is truly in the back of beyond… A 40-minute drive in the other direction is Pedasí, a scenic Colonial era town with architecture clearly inspired by the Spanish settlers. After chilling in town for a bit, head down to the coast and catch a ferry over to Isla Iguana island, a spectacular spot full of mangroves, beaches and crystal-clear waters where there’s great potential for snorkelling.
