Tuscany Camp

Explore at your own pace – this area is littered with walking trails, cycle paths and little villages to visit by car. There are lots of wineries, olive oil mills and small farms or family-run restaurants to stop off at along the way, so you can plan your routes or just see what you stumble upon as you explore. You may be trying to escape from urban life, but Tuscan cities are worth making an exception for. Lucca (20 minutes’ drive), Pisa (40 minutes) and Florence (55 minutes) are all packed with wonderful art and architecture – and good public transport connections mean you can visit without the hassle of traffic and parking. It’s worth taking a look at some of the area’s smaller settlements too – places like Vinci and San Miniato (both 35 minutes) are atmospheric places to wander around, or you could head to the coast to see where composer Puccini lived in Torre del Lago (40 minutes). If the kids aren’t into all this, take them to the Parco di Pinocchio theme park (15 minutes) or Parco Avventura Sospeso Nel Verde (35 minutes) instead.
