With gardens, pools and handy facilities spread out over a spacious, well-kept park, you'll likely be chuffed by the chance to stay in the grounds of this brill Brittany château. The smart canvas tents on offer here come with a good-sized kitchen, comfy beds in separate sleeping compartments, outdoor furniture and a toilet. Villatent at Camping Château de Galinée has a reputation for sorting guests with top-notch accommodation in a classy location close to the coast, with cracking Côtes-d’Armor towns like Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer accessible by car in less than a quarter of an hour. Aquatic antics are also to be had closer to base too, as the park is home to an appealing assortment of outdoor pools and waterslides to jazz up lazy afternoons spent on site. Here's hoping you packed flipflops, suncream and some extra towels – Villatent at Camping Château de Galinée is a 10-minute drive (or a 25-minute bike ride) from Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and its wide sandy bay. Anyone in the clan got a sweet tooth? For extra brownie points, grab some takeaway crêpes before shimmying down to the beach. Also close to base are a local riding centre (five minutes) and Saint-Cast Aventure (five minutes), an activity centre with fab outdoor ents for pretty much anyone over the age of three. If you're one to appreciate sea views while strutting your stuff on the green, give putting a go at Golf de Saint-Cast Pen Guen (10 minutes), a lush links with far-ranging coastal vistas. For a change of scene, move on to Cap Fréhel (25 minutes), a wildlife hub where dramatic pink sandstone cliffs, lighthouses and sweeping healthland landscapes are quite the sight to behold. Refreshed by country strolls, you'll be ready to set out for bigger towns like Saint-Malo (40 minutes) with its gorgeous Intra-Muros Quarter and aptly-named Grand Aquarium.
