Lace up your hiking boots and pack up your beach gear, for Pineapple Farm Holidays is an adults-only site on a family-run farm within the countryside of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just a 15-minute drive from Bridport and West Bay beach, it is in a prime location for days out by the coast. It's also on Pennine Way, which has miles of hiking through English hills and mountains. There's lots more to look forward to at this place, whether it's the wildlife and picnic area (private and only for guests) or the apple orchard (accessible to all). Dogs are asked to be kept on the lead while around the pitches, but they're welcome to run off the lead in the orchard. All of the pitches have water, electricity and their very own firepit. Long before a British TV crime drama made the surrounding coast famous, those in the know came here for a slice of heaven: they were building hill forts with sea views two and a half thousand years ago, and aeons before that, the dinosaurs were down on the beach. Handily, from Pineapple Farm Holidays, it's easy to get stuck right into the beaches with fossils and stunning views; two, including West Bay and Eype beach, are within a 15-minute drive. For any cravings, there are two fine pubs a short walk or a five-minute drive away, dishing up fresh food; if you're still thirsty, the cider farm and vineyard should have something for you, and if you drive five minutes south you can stock up on local produce at the local farm shop. You need go no further, but you definitely will... Campfires are welcome in the complimentary firepits provided, and barbecues are welcome as long as they are raised from the ground. Pineapple Farm Holidays is part of Pineapple Estate, which includes the site, as well as a farm, a shop, a business park and self storage.

Syntes om: A very welcoming site. Hannah was fabulous. Pitch was level. Amenities were good. Shower a bit small for my husband but fine. Loved the fire pit and great little exercise area for the dogs. Would recommend.

Syntes ikke om: Didn’t quite understand that our pitch number was on the board when we arrived. But actually worked well.

There is indeed a small section of narrow lane on the way down from the village but it's rare to meet anything coming the other way and people are very good at popping into the passing places for caravans. Syntes om: Warm welcome, very friendly and helpful. Asked to swap pitch due to ground being uneven and this was accommodated without problem. Whilst out in the town we decided we would use the free fire pit that evening but hadn't bought any firewood. A quick call to the office and they left some out for our return back to the campsite after office closing time and were happy to settle up the next day :)

Syntes om: Fire pits were a big thing for us! Liked the orchard with our dog! Very clean toilets, friendly staff & pitches were large Great to be Adults only!

Syntes ikke om: Was expecting it to be quiet & remote however this was not the case there was a lot of noise from about 7am from traffic to local businesses! This was fine after the working day was over! The evenings were very peaceful & great to watch the stars!

Syntes om: Staff were very helpful and friendly. Site, toilets etc very l Bono clean and well looked after.

Syntes ikke om: Toilet block not well thought out. There’s nowhere to put towels/washbag etc, basins too near to each other. Hardly any room to open the toilet door and squeeze in. I feel either the building should have been extended, or less toilets and basins put in. Not very user friendly. Could also do with a mat at the entrance. We were there during wet weather, and a mat would have kept the floor much drier and cleaner.

We did have a tricky time designing the toilets in such a small space and some are narrower than others. We intend to improve the facilities again this winter with increased hooks and shelving to allow guests to store their towels and washing equipment more easily so it's useful to hear suggestions on this.

Foxglove Areal med græs med elektricitet

Syntes om: The view over the fields, the lovely friendly staff, the nearby cider farm and wine estate, the peaceful atmosphere with very little noise and light pollution, and the firepits.

Syntes ikke om: The shower cubicles are small, with no communal area for hair drying/dressing etc... fine if you're in a large tent/motorhome with your own space but probably a struggle in a small tent.

Fra bestyreren: Thank you for your review- we're really glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet of Pineapple and the surrounding areas. The fire pits are always very popular with our guests so it's great to hear you made good use of those. Each shower has a hook for clothing and a fold down seat to provide a dry changing area. Unfortunately it would be unsafe to provide electric points for hair drying in there however there are sockets and mirrors in the toilets for that purpose. We love your photograph of your setup under blue skies!

Buttercup Areal med græs med elektricitet

Syntes om: Lovely, safe, quiet site with good facilities. Showers excellent and good temperature with room to dress. Toilets clean. Good shop with essentials. Access fine with some narrow roads. Did not use fire pit but saw others doing so. Nice idea. Close to Bridport and Jurassic coast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely if you have a dog as well.

Buttercup Areal med græs med elektricitet

Syntes om: Fantastic site. Very clean, staff friendly. In a peaceful, picturesque area just outside Bridport. Loved the fire pits that were available on each pitch to use. The only recommendation I have is that a few doggy waste bins around the site would have been good and maybe a few extra.showers. We will.l definitely be visiting again as soon as we can.

We try to keep dog waste in the main bins to avoid any smell etc around the site. Anywhere bins were placed would inevitably be near someone's pitch which could be unpleasant. Clover Areal kørende med hårdt underlag og græs med elektricitet

Syntes om: An extremely well run site. We will definitely be returning.Staff very friendly, great to have a little shop, they even sold hot drinks. Walking distance to the local cider farm which is worth a visit as is the The Hare and Hound pub. Great to hear the cows and sheep in the mornings.

Rutevejledning

The site suggests following Satnav until you reach Salwayash village. In the village, look out for the Pineapple Estate Business Park signage and turn onto Pineapple Lane. After 440 yards, turn left at the Pineapple Estates sign and proceed onto the driveway. Continue past the reception and the shop on your right, and take the next left to the base of the hill and across the track. The site is straight ahead.

Lokale seværdigheder

Head to West Bay (15 minutes' drive) for a first glimpse of the world-famous coastline; you'll get even better views on a boat cruise round the cliffs, or try kayaking it yourself. Abbotsbury (half an hour) is a popular spot to start walking the shingle airstrip-cum-sandbar that forms famous Chesil Beach. Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre (25 minutes) has fine examples of the fossils found nearby, including the Sea Dragon (an icthyosaur, in fact) unearthed in 2016. It's also the starting point for guided fossil hunts and rockpool rambles... you could come home with an icthyosaur of your own... West Bay lies on the mighty 680-mile South West Coast Path, but fret not, you don't have to walk it all. A trip round to the old lookout point of Thorncombe Beacon makes a pleasant ramble, especially as there's a pub at the end, or you could drive to Stonebarrow Hill (25 minutes) and explore the Golden Cap, a clifftop wilderness populated by peregrine falcons and butterflies. For diehard townies, there's a market selling something (vinyl or vintage, antiques and organics) in Bridport (15 minutes) almost daily and elegant Lyme Regis (half an hour) looks like a film set, especially when the fog rolls in.
