Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. There is lockable bike storage on site for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hills and down dales. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only thing to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

Syntes om: Site condition, location, ease of checking in & support with a longer power cable. No faults at all & will definitely go there again.

Syntes ikke om: Trying to get a beer at the pub when people were checking in as the reception was closed (Saturday afternoon) . The lady serving was working her socks off & very nice but drowning. Gave up in the end after two drinks & went back to the tent.

Syntes om: The best camp site I've ever stayed at. It was so clean grass was amazing .. The toilets and shower were so clean and I mean clean 🫧 amazingm staff were lovely also just an all round amazing stay will definitely be back again thanks

Syntes om: The site's location The toilets, with the shower all in one. The shelter from the wind on the pitch we were able to move to!

Syntes ikke om: There was no barrier to enter through. This would improve security. No reception at the time we arrived.

Syntes om: Well drained gravel pitch with fabulous open views. Plenty of loos and showers, no queuing! Loads of space for kids to explore and play, the bar was great and the pizzas delicious. Good to meet Ross the owner and hear about future plans for the site, we wish them every success. We only had 2 nights but would happily have stayed longer!

Syntes om: Clean large pitches, bar facilities and pizza oven. Good campsite rules were in place. Ample toilet and shower facilities. Great location.

Syntes ikke om: Some pitches were a long way from nearest toilet facilities. Although good rules were set, more enforcement was required eg loose dogs and the people on the next pitch to us pitched less than 2m away when 6m was set as a requirement.

Syntes om: Great location buses from Austwick village at 2 hour intervals so plan your trips from the bus timetables.Nice walk to the village from the site.Buses to and from some nice places.

Syntes ikke om: Great site but could do with a good review around the bin area on route to the bar ,shop and reception areas.A tidy up a few nice plants and flowers would totally enhance the first impressions for any visitor.

Rutevejledning

Dalesbridge campsite is just off the main A65 road between Ingleton and Settle. Do not drive into Austwick. If travelling from the Settle direction the site is past the Austwick sign on the lefthand side of the road: turn into the entrance directly before the Dalesbridge sign. If travelling from Ingleton the site is just past the second turning into the village of Austwick; turn right after the crossroads. Satnav: please note that our entrance is directly off the A65: do not turn up Orcaber Lane!

Lokale seværdigheder

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
