This peaceful lakeside retreat is a veritable pup's paradise: not one, but two large off-leash exercise areas and lead walks, a lake to paddle in and heaps of long countryside walking trails to take their humans out and about on. Two licensed fishing lakes, separate from the dog-friendly swimming lake, are also on site; day tickets are available to purchase on site. Near Lydney in Gloucestershire, Forest Oak Farm is a friendly dog-centred farm estate that lies between the banks of the River Severn and the Forest of Dean, and very warmly welcomes dog owners and their canine compadres to come spend some time there; since opening in 2012, the site has been expertly cultivated by the Dodson family – who also run a fab dog training centre on the farm – to provide a scenic spacious site and a welcoming atmos to all. Set out over 20 acres of fields, lakes and woodland filled with mature trees, this is a well-equipped park with plenty of 10-amp metered electric hook-ups and a bathroom block with toilets, showers, accessible facilities, a washing-up area and a laundry room. Foodwise, you can take your barbecue bits down to the smashing lakeside picnic area for an alfresco feast by the water. The site also has two large fenced dog exercise areas. Off site, there are heaps of good places to eat out around in Lydney and a little further afield around Blakeney, Alvington, Parkend and Clearwell – just ask the Dodsons about their favourite dog-friendly food joints.

Syntes om An absolutely fantastic campsite, a lovely welcome and chat with the owner who showed us to our grass tent pitch with electric hook up. We took our two dogs with us a Trailhound and a Rottie who absolutely loved both the two secure dog exercise fields, the dog pond and when it was extremely hot, the dog wash area to cool them off, along with meeting lots of other dogs on their holibobs too. A beautifully laid out site with another two lakes to enjoy. A lovely modern toilet and shower block which were kept immaculately clean throughout our stay along with the laundry and washing up area. A tranquil and peaceful relaxing site which is going to be a regular weekender for us to come to and just unwind.

Syntes om Extremely clean, and ample toilet and shower facilities. Very quiet site, well located for a stop off heading to the South West from Scotland. Close to lots of walks and for older kids Go Ape and Sculpture Park.

Syntes ikke om It didn’t feel like there would be a big welcome to larger family groups. It was fine for me as a solo parent with one tween and for a short out of season stay.

As a small campsite our visitors largely consist of couples and small families - people looking for some quiet time and to enjoy the beautiful and natural landscape with a wide range of wildlife. As such we do not have children's facilities onsite, there is lots to do in the Forest and surrounding areas.

Definitely worth a visit if your looking for peace and tranquility!

Fra bestyreren: Obviously we are very disappointed to read this 3/10 graded review given we could not have done anything in our powers to improve your dislikes. Especially as this seems to be a result of a simple misunderstanding I was not aware of.
You booked a non-electric pitch and was therefore not allocated an electric hook up. I recall you asked on arrival, before being sited, if we happen to have any electric available. I confirmed (truthfully) that unfortunately we did not as we were up to full capacity for the nights of your stay. Please be assured I always offer it for sale when it is available.
At no time during your stay did you come and ask about moving pitches and any empty pitches were not those that had electric allocated. Like most small (or indeed large) sites we have a limited amount of electric supply to the site. We have to ensure we only book pitches within that capacity or risk tripping out the supply. We have more plugin points than we have capacity. We are set up in this way so we can be flexible in where we pitch people to suit their needs. So if you saw any empty plugin points it was not because we had electric available, it will have been because we had reached the maximum number of points elsewhere on the site. I am very happy to explain this to visitors when asked.

Syntes om Had a fantastic weekend here camping, the owner was very friendly and always had time for a chat. The site is amazing, So clean, not a bit of rubbish anywhere, showers and toilet blocks really clean. There are some lovely woodland walks on the site, we was supposed to take our dog who would have loved it but it was to hot at 32 degrees, but will be definitely be returning with her. Close to little towns and villages and some lovely fishing ponds on site too.
Definitely star 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 and would 100% recommend

Syntes om Lovely site with paths around 2 fishing ponds. The facilities are clean and modern. There's 2 lovely dog exercise areas where they can be off lead. The whole site was very well maintained. It was a great starting point for our road trip through Wales.

The washing up room is at the end of the facilities building in the same room as the laundry and the visitors fridge/freezer - the other end to the boiler room. So sometimes when the taps have not been used for a while it can take a few minutes for the hot water to come through :)

Also not over run with pitches, meaning it was lovely and quiet.
The 2 dog exercise fields were brilliant.
I didn’t manage to connect to any wifi, and phone signal was hit & miss (which I liked 😅)
I enjoyed my stay so much, I’ve booked to go back next weekend!

Please be aware there are a number of farms using the same postcode. Do not turn off the A48 as the site entrance is on the main road. Keep going until you see a large white house between Lydney and Blakeney Village, called 'The Willows', with white painted stones around the driveway and garden. Forest Oak Farm is in a splendid spot for easy access to the Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the wider Gloucestershire, south Wales and south-west England areas. Adventurers can test their mettle on the high ropes course at Go Ape, five miles from base, and over at Puzzlewood, eight miles away, there's a walking trail that meanders through an ancient 14-acre forest filled with towering trees and rugged rock formations. At Clearwell Caves, right next door to Puzzlewood, explore its sprawling natural cave system and learn all about the forest's 4,500-year iron ore and ochre mining history. The Forest Of Dean, around half an hour's walk from the park, is full to the brim with woodland walks, cycle tracks, lakes and secluded valleys. Be sure to bring your binoculars, because the forest is home to wild boar and deer that can (and should) be admired from afar. The smashing Symonds Yat Rock is a mere 25-minute drive away from Forest Oak Farm and provides visitors with plenty of fun outdoorsy and sightseeing opps; take one of the many waymarked trails that link it with the River Wye and a number of circular walks into the surrounding forest, visit the ancient Iron Age hill fort and – if you're there between April and August – point your trusty binoculars towards the nearby cliffs to spot the peregrine falcons that nest and hunt around them. Canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and mountaineering are available around the village of Symonds Yat too.
