Bama Bison Farm

Part of the attraction of this place is the chance to chill out on site, perhaps following a walking trail around the farm or asking the owners for a farm tour; there’s also a pond stocked with bass and bream for catch-and-release fishing. Despite the relaxed rural atmosphere of the farm, good access to the road network means it’s easy to get out and about from here. That might mean heading out to Chewacla State Park (half an hour’s drive) for some outdoor time, signing up for rafting with Whitewater Express (25 minutes), playing a round at RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National (40 minutes) or checking out the unusual exhibits at Museum of Wonder Drive Thru (15 minutes). East Alabama Motor Speedway (10 minutes) is also close by. For a dip into city life, head to Columbus, Georgia (25 minutes), to visit the National Infantry Museum, National Civil War Naval Museum and Springer Opera House, or turn the other way to Auburn for the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn Raptor Centre and some good Asian food shopping.
