If your tastes run more to period decorative arts, check out the collections at Cannon Hall (10 minutes), a Georgian mansion with romantic gardens and vast grounds dotted with architectural follies (plus climbing structures and tepees). Hire a swan boat and feed the ducks on the pond, or let the kids blow off some steam at the designated play area.
