Neptune himself would most likely have been a fan of this setting – on Sicily’s southern coast, about 15 minutes’ drive from Agrigento, Camping Internazionale Nettuno is right by the beach so guests of all kinds (whether Roman gods or mere mortals) can dash out into the clear blue sea whenever the fancy takes them. The proximity of the sea makes this an enticing enough prospect, but there’s more to this site than just its easy beach access. Pitches here are set among greenery and mature trees that give plenty of shade for times when you want to chill out – and they’ve got access to lots of handy on-site facilities including a food shop and launderette as well as toilets, showers and a chemical disposal area. Family time spent away from the beach is sorted too – the site has a games room, TV room and playground to keep the kids quiet for a bit, and there’s evening entertainment in high season too. You might like to gather over a leisurely meal instead, of course – either taking a table at the restaurant or creating your own dishes at the barbecue area. Getting out and about is an excellent option, as well – one of the real perks of this spot is that it’s not just the beach that’s nearby but also several historic/cultural sites including the Valley of the Temples and Luigi Pirandello's House Museum.

Em va agradar: The beach...full stop. No toilet paper, over crowded, didn't understand pitchup ...seriously average. Avoid!

Del gerent: Gentile Sign. Mark, ci dispiace che si sia trovato male nel nostro campeggio ma non capiamo come mai al momento del pagamento (16.50 € ), quando le è stato chiesto come si fosse trovato, abbia risposto positivamente. Abbiamo sempre riservato un trattamento particolare ai clienti di Pitchup e le altre recensioni lo dimostrano, ma le sue richieste sono state bizzarre; voleva la carta igienica nei bagni (ma non è stato scritto da nessuna parte che noi fornissimo questa servizio), le sono state regalate le docce e si è lamentato di non essere riuscito ad effettuarla poichè non ha trovato il tasto di avvio (un bottone 10 cm x 10 cm di colore giallo posto accanto la porta). Detto ciò, signor Mark speriamo di averla come nostro cliente un’altra volta (prometto che al suo arrivo le faremo trovare la carta igienica ed un indicatore di direzione nella doccia solo per lei ovviamente). Le consiglio comunque di rivalutare un hotel in quanto credo che possa soddisfare maggiormente le sue esigenze (trovarlo a questo prezzo mi sembra difficile ma provare non costa nulla). Em va agradar: The site and particularly the WC are very clean ( highest standard). The location is excellent as it has a direct access to the beach. I recommend.

Em va agradar: A lovely welcome! First Pitchup customers. The site is lovely, almost on the beach but also close to the Valley of the Temples. All facilities were clean and well maintained. Great hot showers and a welcome washing machine after two weeks travelling. The site is quiet and there are shady spots. One of the best sites we have stayed on in Italy.

Llocs d'interès

Although the beach by the site is a good one, it’s worth getting up and exploring some other corners of the coast, as it’s all rather lovely. Perhaps a hike around Punta Bianca Natural Reserve (half an hour’s drive) takes your fancy, or checking out the white cliffs of The Stair of The Turks (25 minutes)? To introduce a bit of culture to proceedings, take a tour of Luigi Pirandello's House Museum (15 minutes), now filled with artefacts and tributes to the famed writer. You should also really spend a good chunk of time at the Valley of the Temples (15 minutes), one of Sicily’s most famed sights for its well-preserved buildings like the Temple of Concordia and Temple of Dioscuri. Once you’ve thoroughly explored the heritage of the area, perhaps it’s time to go back to the beach? For a change of scenery, there are several to choose from nearby, including those in San Leone (five minutes) and Lido Rossello (25 minutes) as well as your very own beach by the site.
