The lavender fields are of the Valensole plateau, 500 metres high up in the south of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, and the national park is the Verdon Regional Natural Park, set like the site 514 metres above sea level and edged by the River Verdon.
Camping Coteau de la Marine is close to the canoeing descents and kayaking opps of the Verdon Gorge – go, it's gorgeous – and near all sorts of heritage highlights, active days out and teeny traditional French villages. On site, there's an outdoor pool of over 200m² and a paddling pool, alongside facilities for bowling, basketball, table tennis and tennis.
The team organises events including sports tournaments and water games in high season, and dance clubs, theme nights, karaoke, games and pétanque nights in the evenings. A regular kids' club runs throughout the season.
Camping Coteau de la Marine also has a bar and restaurant with takeaway service and a TV showing big sporting events, and a seasonal supermarket selling fresh bread and pastries, open throughout the season.

When you reach Montpezat, continue towards Baudinard, do not follow signs to the town centre.

Llocs d'interès
The warm days, cool nights and Mediterranean climate of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence make it a super spot for hols of both the relaxing and the active variety. Climbing, canyoning, rafting, mountain biking and hiking are all accessible nearby, pedal boats can be rented near the site and a sailing club is 15km away. Horse riding is 8km away and treetop adventuring within 20.
More sedately, wander in the area of Camping Coteau de la Marine for its markets and diverse produce, its historical heritage, its lavender fields blazing in July and August, and its handsome villages such as Montagnac-Montpezat three kilometres away: you might have heard of Montagnac truffles...?
We'd also take a look at the Lake of Sainte-Croix ten kilometres away, the village of Quinson (13 km), Esparron-de-Verdon at the entrance to the lower Verdon canyons (22 km) and Moustiers 25km away, on a limestone cliff and named as one of the 'most beautiful villages of France'.
