Six smashing destinations are within easy reach of Camping Le Logis in the Charente-Maritime: you'll need at least one day at each, plus several more among the first-rate facilities on site, so do be sure to book at least a couple of weeks...
First up, the site is just over a kilometre from a wide sandy beach on the Côte de Beauté and (smashing destination numero deux) a few kilometres from Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, a seaside town where sun and sand seekers have basked and bathed since the 19th century. Thirdly and fourthly, it's 10 kilometres from here to department capital Royan, and eight kilometres to La Palmyre Zoo.
Fifthly? You won't have to get into the car to reach the Forest of la Coubre, the coastal pine woodland with trails for biking, hiking and horse riding. And finally, the famed Golf de Royan course is 500 metres away; if you've never teed off before, ask the Camping Le Logis team to arrange a private lesson.
Your several days on site are sorted at the 1200m² heated waterpark with paddling pool, main pool and waterslides, and at the sporty options nearby: play tennis for free, bounce a smaller ball at ping pong, or take to the sports court for football or basketball.
But, of course, you may care for a less active vibe... Sorted too, at the two bars, and the summer kids' club and playground to occupy the small people while you laze about with an ice cream.
Camping Le Logis also has a snack bar, a grocery shop and a bakery.

Make the family-friendly seaside resort of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer a few minutes' drive from the site, an early option when you're staying at Camping Le Logis as there's heaps to do here for all ages: as well as its five-kilometre beach, the town has markets, bars, a nightclub, and a beach club for kids with magic shows, games, storytelling and circus sessions.
Hire a bike on site to pedal through the Forest of la Coubre and along the coast, on all or part of the 30-kilometre trail between Saint-Palais-sur-mer and Ronce-les-Bains. Mountain bike and horse riding trails carved out by the National Forestry Office weave through the trees too; for hiking, take one of the many marked trails or get onto the GR 4 long-distance path, passing through the forest on its route from Royan to Ronce-les-Bains.
A casino and promenade are at Royan, 15 minutes' drive away or about 25 minutes by bus. The town's probably best known for its five beaches and its setting at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, the biggest in western Europe.
