Hesdin Forest and the area surrounding it are part of the Pas de Calais 7 Valleys region, a place filled with rivers, hills and forests as well as the eponymous valleys. More fishing can be tackled here, along with otter spotting, river walks and finding many a French delicacy among the farms and villages. Go bowling, sort supermarket supplies or visit the waterpark in the town of Hesdin six kilometres from the site, an old settlement with a weekly market, Renaissance square and tourist office. The Canche river runs through here too, so snap a pic of it from one of the town's several cobbled bridges. History and Henry fans should trot off for a day trip to the Centre Historique Medieval - Azincourt, commemorating the Battle of Azincourt where one K Branagh, sorry Henry 5, rode once more unto the breach, for Harry, England and Saint George.
