Mountain-loving types of many stripes flock to the Vosges all year round. In summer it’s all hiking, biking, fishing and splashing about in open-air pools, while in winter the activity turns to skating, snowshoeing and skiing in the nearby resort of La Bresse Hohneck (easily accessed via the handy winter sports shuttle bus).
And those views… mighty fine they are all year round, particularly if you settle down to admire them with a glass of local Alsace vino in hand... As well you may at Domaine du Haut des Bluches, where the bar and restaurant look out over a fir forest and river with a backdrop of those rocky peaks. Picnic baskets and breakfast pastries can be ordered too, for those who fancy a feast in a spot of their own choosing.
Gazing at gorgeous views being rather a grownup pastime, the folks on site have installed plenty of bits and bobs to keep the smalls happy while their elders take in the scenery – there's a playground, table football, bouncy castle and multisports pitch, with the added bonus of kids’ club antics in the summer holidays. It’s pretty family-friendly all round, in fact – other handy features include family bathrooms, tiddlers’ toilets and a kids’ menu making life easy for those in the presence of picky eaters.

Llocs d'interès
There’s heaps to do in the surrounding area for those who like to get out into the open. Hikers can follow circular routes from just outside the site, or pick from more than 200 kilometres of paths in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park. Cyclists are similarly well supplied with graded, marked trails and can use the site’s various bike kit (maps, repair kit and storage room) to aid their adventures.
Also easily accessed from the site are a kid-friendly nature trail through the forest, a golf course and (15 minutes’ walk away) an adventure park with treetop trails, ziplines and bungee jumping. Adrenaline seekers can take trial paragliding flights from here or ride the luge trail at Schlitte Mountain, 20 minutes away by car.
Come the winter, the ski shuttle can whisk you to the 32 pistes of La Bresse-Hohneck, or to La Bresse Lispach for 50 kilometres of cross country trails. Also within 10 kilometres or so are a sizeable skating rink and 10 snowshoeing trails, with kit available to rent.
