Afegiu les dades de la vostra empresaOn the banks of a lake and with the peaks of the Vosges mountains as a backdrop, Europe Tents at Domaine des Messires, a kilometre from Herpelmont, has some stunning views waiting for its guests. It's the sort of place where you'll probably just want to dump your bags, grab an outdoor chair (and maybe a drink…) and simply soak up the scenery and peaceful atmosphere all around you.
And indeed that's exactly what you can do – because the accommodation at this small-scale Lorraine site is in rental tents that are already set up and waiting for guests to move in. Beds, bed linen and a kitchen are provided in each tent, along with indoor and outdoor furniture – really there's very little left for you to do other than a small amount of unpacking (and even that's not really mandatory…)
Of course, what’s really left for you to do is get stuck into your holiday – perhaps heading straight down to the sandy lake beach for a bit of sunbathing, a paddle in the cool water, some fishing or to launch a canoe. If you're quiet you might even spot one of the beavers that live in the water.
Various activities are organised for the kids in the summer, so they may well find something they want to join in with – either out in the open or in the games room if the weather’s not so great. Then again, they and/or you may well find you’re drawn to the restaurant, where drinks and local dishes are served up on an attractive lakeside terrace…

You’ll want to get out for a walk, a hike or a bike ride, of course – these mountainous surroundings have so many options for scenic outings. A couple of popular places to aim for nearby are the trail to Grande Cascade de Tendon (15 minutes’ drive) and Lac de Gérardmer (25 minutes), which has a couple of observation towers and the Acro-Sphère adventure park.
Keeping it simple, you may like to stroll among the flowers at Garden Berchigranges (15 minutes) or watch the scampering monkeys at La Montagne des Singes (an hour and five minutes) – they're a friendly bunch who'll happily eat out of your hand.
A good day out is to Colmar (an hour and 15 minutes), where you can wander among half-timbered buildings and explore the art collection at the Unterlinden Museum, housed in a spectacular medieval monastery.
