Centrally located just north of Wales’ second biggest city, Riverside Caravan Park makes a brill base for touring both the country’s south and west. This family-run spot with an indoor swimming pool (open during high season only) and fishing facilities is between the Swansea valley and the M4 corridor, about half an hour’s drive from the stunning scenery of the Gower Peninsula... Before hopping around the beaches though, it’s best to get in a good feed at the chip shop (open during high season only), grab a takeaway or – if it’s Sunday – try one of the traditional dinners at the park. A clubhouse is on site for drinks post-explores and entertainment ranging from bingo to live music is put on in the evenings as well. Food figured out, start your adventures in the west after a pick-me-up coffee from the café, beginning with the Mumbles half an hour’s drive away for its pretty pier and fancy houses – the abode of well-known Welshwoman Catherine Zeta-Jones is around here somewhere. Wide and sandy Llangennith (about 40 minutes’ drive) could be next, or you might want to amble along the coastal path at Rhosilli (50 minutes) for epic views over the ocean. Surf with the seals at Oxwich Bay (also 50 minutes) or curl up on a blanket at a smaller cove, Broughton Bay, about 40 minutes away. Closer beaches that have a bit more of a built-up setting include Swansea’s very own bay (20 minutes) and Aberavon (the same distance) with its Aquasplash pool. Kids not tired out yet after full-on days? The play area back on base should get them feeling sleepy enough for a good night’s rest, ready to do it all over again the next morning...

No em va agradar Where so I start ,firstly a deep clean everywhere would do it the world of good .
Showers and toilets dirty grimey and unhygienic.
Site is over crowed with pitches too close together.
Noise pollution is constant and cars up and down, with an essence of lets say herbal cigarettes .
I will never go again , what an eye opener . Please note the photos of the website are not how it looks now.
The people were friendly there.
They just need to keep the dogs on leads and nor left to run all over .

Em va agradar We had a group family booking and we was placed together on quite a spacious area which was perfect as we have a good few kids between us. We read the negative reviews that had recently gone up and we was a bit concerned but I can honestly say that we felt safe and never experienced or saw anything bad everyone was friendly and we had a great time camping here and we will definitely be back again.

Em va agradar That it was easy to book via Pitch Up.

No em va agradar This site just was not for us. We arrived, drove round and left. Pitches were very on top of each other. Large groups of people all round, very loud, music from various set ups being played loud, cars everywhere, scrap metal style trucks, lots of residential set ups with lounge sofas outside. Just didn’t feel safe to stay with my family and two dogs. Luckily we are quite laid back people and just moved on to another site which we managed to book via pitch up.

No em va agradar Everything about is place. We thought this was a family oriented caravan park. What we found was a site full of noisy people playing their thumping music all day and all night, whilst working on e-motorbikes or cars whilst Ferrell children ran riot round the site. We asked to move pitches to a quieter one which we did but it made no difference. We shut ourselves in our van and kept away from everyone as we felt very uncomfortable and not welcome at all. The loud music continued into the small hours so we had to pull the pop top roof down and all slept downstairs in the van to try and minimise the noise. The next morning we asked for a refund for our second night and left. Avoid at all costs unless you like loud music and sleep depravation.

It’s not just beaches that lure people to this lovely area: the country parks are also swish, including Gnoll in Neath (15 minutes' drive) with its 100-acre early-18th-century landscaped garden. Visit for Aberdulais Falls and the sizable waterwheel or to have a knockabout at the golf course. The Neath and Tennant Canal’s around here too for woodland walks beside water… Go south to Swansea for more nature at Plantasia (15 minutes), a big public hothouse with all sorts of plants to see; the city’s main museum will also keep you occupied for a fair few hours with its film showings and photography exhibitions. Weather looking a bit iffy? Get on over to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (30 minutes’ drive) for underground antics in the Brecon Beacons’ 10-mile-long cave system.
