Here your accommodation is in handcrafted, light-flooded, exceptionally comfortable and ultra-stylish lodges sleeping between four and six guests. Each of these warm, cosy retreats from everyday life has a modern bathroom (toiletries and linens provided) and fully equipped kitchen for self-catering feasts. The open-plan living space makes it easy to get together socially with family and friends, and at night you can snuggle up in a plush double bed.

Silverwood is in prime position to swot up on several millennia of Perthshire history. Travel way back in time to the prehistoric dolmens at Orwell Standing Stones (half an hour’s drive) and learn more about them at Perth Museum (15 minutes). See where Scottish kings were crowned at Scone Palace (20 minutes), and tour sumptuous apartments and landscaped gardens at Glamis Castle (35 minutes), childhood home of the late Queen Mother.
Head for Dundee (25 minutes) to spend an afternoon in the landmark V&A Dundee, home of spectacular design exhibitions. Understand the city’s textile heritage in the former mill at Verdant Works, or explore historic ‘RRS Discovery’, the three-masted ship that sailed successfully to Antarctica and back at the turn of the 20th century.
Whizz over the Tay Bridge to the university town of St Andrews (40 minutes) for a ramble around the castle and cathedral, or a game of golf on the fabled Old Course. Make a day of it on a driving tour of the pretty fishing villages of Crail (55 minutes) and Ely (an hour) in the East Neuk of Fife, or for some big-city action, head for the shops and museums of Edinburgh or Glasgow (both about an hour).
