To Alton Towers! Staffordshire's popular Lower Micklin Touring Park is just five minutes' drive from the whirls and rides of this most exciting theme park to have the kids most excited; you might need a second day there just to make sure you get round the lot... And Lower Micklin is also at the edge of the Peak District and a few miles from Uttoxeter Racecourse for more Staffs holiday happenings. A public footpath walk leads to Alton village and the local pub is half a mile away by footpath or country lane. (Miles of other walks are all around: just look up at the walls on site when you're doing the washing-up: you'll see what's meant by that when you get there...) Lower Micklin is set in 10 acres of grassland with plenty of space for the kids to run around and a one-kilometre track for big folk to walk or jog. It has new heated shower and toilet facilities with free hot water and a family bathroom with toilet, shower, basin and baby changing unit. The park also has rubbish and recycling facilities, covered washing-up sinks with hot water and – a tad more excitement for the sprogs – a ball field with goal posts and a play area with slide, swings and a climbing wall. For Alton eats, local takeaways deliver to the site, and both Alton and Denston close by have food shops and pubs.

Aquest càmping tranquil i ben cuidat rep elogis per la seva ubicació excel·lent, especialment per a visites a Alton Towers, i les vistes impressionants. Em va agradar The site was peaceful and quiet, the kids loved the play area and meeting the animals.

We had a super pitch but all of them seemed a fair size and laid out nicely so everyone wasn't on top of each other.
The barrier entrance helped us feel the kids were safer with no cars approaching unexpectedly.

It's about 10 mins from Alton Towers so perfect for those going for the day. There's also a bus stop outside (we didn't use it) which is convenient.

Shops and pubs are about 5 mins away.

No em va agradar We didn't use the facilities much but my 7 year old missed having a hair dryer after his shower.

Em va agradar Excellent site in lovely surroundings. Good amenities and nice hard standing, level pitches. When we arrived a lovely chap booked us in and told us everything we needed to know about the site. Short drive or walk into Alton that has some lovely pubs. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

No em va agradar Only slight niggle, the wifi is non existent 5 pitches away from the amenities block, luckily phone signal was ok.

Em va agradar Spacious flat pitches, really well kept site. Very tidy and clean facilities and very friendly staff. Beautiful scenery and lots of opportunities for walks straight from the site.

Em va agradar Very spacious and clean with Electric hook up and water tap nearby too,whole site was very clean and superb shower and toilet facilities plus a great washing up area,checked in very easy and was seen too straight away by a friendly gentleman and directed to pitch number

Em va agradar Lovely quiet site, well maintained, small site but lots of lovely touches make the stay very comfortable. Great location for Alton towers but also would be lovely for a quiet weekend get away. Kids enjoyed the alpacas/play park. Owners/man who greeted us very friendly.

No em va agradar Only very minor complaint was the showers being on a push button, doesn’t last very long so had to shower pressing the button in the whole time but I appreciate it’s for saving water, only a very minor inconvenience.

Walks, walks and more walks: the public footpath between Denstone and Alton crosses Lower Micklin Touring Park and there are links to footpaths in all directions and to the Staffordshire Way, 92 miles of trail from Mow Cop Castle to Kinver Edge. The Peak District is a few miles away with many more hikes, or take the Tissington and High Peak bike trails if you're feeling hardy. Other options nearby could include bouldering in the Churnet Valley or trips on the area's two steam railways, the Foxfield Railway and the Churnet Valley Railway; having a close encounter with the animals at Peak Wildlife Park, or visiting historic homes like Chatsworth House and Sudbury Hall with the Museum of Childhood. If you want to leave the car behind (perhaps for a jaunt to the pub?), the taxi firm local to Lower Micklin Touring Park will pick up customers from the site.
