For a back-to-basics Lincolnshire break wander over to Waltonholt, on a four-acre smallholding in Orby and just 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness’ sandy beach and seaside amusements. The facilities at this fuss-free spot, which has grassy green views to gaze at from each pitch, include showers, toilets, sinks and a washing-up area so the essentials are covered. The nearest pub is a 10-minute walk (another essential, surely?) and supplies can be picked up in Burgh le Marsh (a five-minute drive away), which also has a selection of food and drink places for eating in or ordering takeaways. As for the surroundings, this site is in between the coast at Skegness and the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so coastal strolls are equally as achievable as hilly roams. Dogs are welcome at Waltonholt, so wherever you choose to amble, you can do it with your canine pal in tow. There’s also free wifi around the site – handy for planning your days out walking or visiting the trampoline centre, petting farm, theme park and heritage railway within a 10-minute drive.

There’s lots to do within a five-minute drive of this site, from visiting the 18th-century manor house of Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens to bouncing about at the Jump Warriors Trampoline Park. Happy to travel 10 minutes away? Take the kids to Hardy's Animal Farm, Fantasy Island amusement park or on the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway; five minutes more in the car gets you to Skegness, the seaside town well known for its pier, beach and Pleasure Beach amusements. Drop by the Natureland Seal Sanctuary here to learn about how the animals are rehabilitated, then see more watery creatures at the Skegness Aquarium (15 minutes). Other animals are to be admired at the ARK exotic animal sanctuary (20 minutes), the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (25 minutes) and the Rushmoor Farm Park & Falconry Centre (half an hour). Not got the kids with you? Make the most of a tiddler-free hol with a tour and a tasting at Batemans Brewery (15 minutes) or saunter around the woodland, valleys and grassland in the Snipe Dales country park (20 minutes) with the knowledge there’ll be no complaining nippers at your heels. Other beauty spots in the surrounds include the Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes) – head here to wander a wild part of the coastline just south of Skegness.

Em va agradar Absolutely beautiful site set within a lovely village of Orby. It has a fabulous pub nearby Red Lion and the food is gorgeous. Sad to see John and his wife leave this little part of paradise but we wish them a very happy retirement. I just hope the next owner keeps it as lovely as John did.

Em va agradar Enjoyed a short break here, close to Skegness and Ingoldmells. John and Val were lovely.

No em va agradar Track into site was full of large holes and due to rain, lots of puddles have to go really slowly over them.

Em va agradar We had a fabulous weekend , such a nice, peaceful location and our 5 boys even made some friends while there .. 15 mins to get to skegg/ ingomels for the day ,we will be returning soon as the we all enjoyed our stay ... X

No em va agradar The only thing we would suggest is a gravel car park area as our car nearly got stuck on the grass x
