Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Lovely little site. Nice clean simple shower block. I can see what you are trying to develop with the fruit trees and herbs and other plants growing. I think it will be beautiful in a few years. Although we didn’t use it, there is a lovely kitchen area set up with a bbq & camping stove

Disliked: There is a train track right next to the site & a train crossing. The bell for the train crossing goes off every half hour with the train passing through. This isn’t an issue for us, but is something to be aware of and would be nice to be informed of. Also as this is a site where they are trying to encourage nature there are a lot of bugs (again not an issue for us) so make sure you bring plenty of mosquito repellent (we always travel fully prepared for this)

Local attractions

First stop on your sightseeing agenda? Definitely the Parco Nazionale del Matese (15 minutes’ drive), where you can have a wander around the impressive castle at Castello del Matese (25 minutes), take binoculars to look for golden eagles as you hike in hilly forest, and then cool off with a swim in one of three pristine lakes. When you’d like to sneak a bit of culture into your Campania break, head for historic Caserta (45 minutes) to tour the ornate baroque-era Royal Palace and its elegantly landscaped water gardens. There’s more baroque beauty at Complesso Monumentale Belvedere San Leucio (half an hour), which has a silk museum and spectacular views over Caserta to Mount Vesuvius in the Bay of Naples. If the kids are pleading for some fun-filled downtime, treat them to a day on the waterslides at Jolly Park (five minutes), while you slumber under the canopy of trees. There’s more aquatic fun to be had at The Oasis del Sol (10 minutes), with splash fountains and gentle slides aimed at younger guests. Older offspring will be well happy with the climbing walls and rope courses at Parco Avventura Camposauro (40 minutes).
