Looking for that relaxing rural vibe, but not really willing to give up the convenience of urban amenities? Camping La Minière has both aspects sorted: this peaceful wooded site has plenty of quiet space to chill out, yet is only a 15-minute stroll from the centre of Forges-les-Eaux for easy access to a supermarket, a train station and restaurants. Active types can while away hours on site with games of pétanque or table tennis; those whose hols favour sitting down can borrow books and board games or use the communal barbecues and picnic tables to set out an alfresco feast while les enfants mess about at the playground. If you fancy a bit of local pottering, you can hire bikes to pedal along forest paths or hit the 18-kilometre Avenue Verte that starts from Forges-les-Eaux. Venturing further afield, a half-hour drive will take you to castles, gardens and adventure parks dotted around the countryside, while 45 minutes or so in the car can have you wandering through historic Rouen or paddling on the beaches around Dieppe.

Liked: The town is very nice and access to Avenue Vert for cycling is excellent. The campsite owners are very friendly and welcoming. The facilities are ok and the pitches are huge with hedge separating them. We have come back to the site from staying here last year so it must be good.

Disliked: Zittoilet zonder bril ( niet handig voor mensen die moeite hebben om te hurken ) Watervoorziening voor caravan is aan het wc gebouw ( voor bepaalde pitches is de afstand te groot om met een tuinslang te doen, best bidons meebrengen )

Liked: Size of pitch with hedges either side & had tree above. Walk into local town & close to supermarket (just short of 1 mile). Good selection of local produce in shops. Great bread & cake shops. Good walks or trail runs - forest close by. Excellent WW2 French resistance museum in town (opens in afternoon). The facilities are clean though basic. The number of showers is limited & though not a problem for us as it was late season I suspect may be challenging in busy times (plus across road from site there is an aire & you can pay to use facilities.

Disliked: Was bit surprised there being no toilet paper provided at campsite - not a complaint just been useful to know before we arrived though we did have our own supply from motorhome.

From the manager: Bonjour Ne soyer pas surpris par l'absence de papier dans les toilettes .les camping sont classé comme les hôtel avec des Etoiles ,et donc les prestations augmentes avec les étoiles ainsi que les prix ,et pour information nous disposons de 2 blocs sanitaire soit un total de 11 douches et qui ne sont pas autorisé au camping car de l'aire de service qui ce trouve de l'autre coté de la rue nous vous remercions pour votre note et a bientôt

Liked: Second review Great host welcomed us back. Facilities good and clean Site was a lot quieter as the season was coming to an end. Found the Aldi close by which we didn't previously. Site was quiet, and nice to hear the church bells again. Forges Les Eaux is beautiful and well worth a walk around.

From the manager: je suis surpris que vous n'ayez pas trouvez le parc au bout du camping qui est également le passage pour le centre ville ,je vous est demandé de ne pas promener votre chien sur les emplacements ( libre ou pas) et l'aire de jeu enfant afin de de respecter les autres campeurs et que 2 possibilité sont a votre disposition le parc ou les trottoirs en herbe. Je ne m'attendais pas a une meilleur note de votre part ,mais j'en assume les conséquences du fait de ma réflexion sur votre manque de respect a laisser votre chien aller et venir sur les emplacement a la nuit tombé (ce qui peut présagé au nom ramassage de ses excrément.

Liked: We were heading south and this was great location for our first night, approx 2 hours from the tunnel. Venue is great on the edge of a village, is near a road but this didn't bother us. Easy walk through the campsite into the village. Hearing the church bells which reminded me of times gone by...no longer hear them here in the UK. Facilities are good. Pitches are large and bordered by hedges, which gave good privacy. We were under an oak tree which did mean we benefitted from the occasional acorn dropping on us on windy days! Host was great, couldn't do enough for us, and did speak enough English, coupled to my poor French, for us to get by!

Disliked: Nothing. (NB suggest you take all the Anglophile reviews with a pinch of salt... eg it is rare to find toilet seats in France, but you do understand the hygiene perspective, and get used to it pretty quickly)

Local attractions

Start your Normandy break with a wander around Forges-les-Eaux itself, poking around in the market and learning about the town’s wartime role at the Resistance Museum. A walk or bike ride on the Avenue Verte is highly recommended to see some of the scenic surrounds, as is a soak in the thermal waters of the local spa upon your return to town. If you like to peruse a château or two, take the half-hour drive to Château de Fleury-la-Forêt (home to a splendid doll museum), or wander through the gardens at Chateau de Vascoeuil to spot the sculptures scattered around the estate. More historic visits can be had in Rouen, 45 minutes’ drive away – take in the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramic Museum, see the cathedral that inspired Monet or just potter through the restored medieval streets, looking up at the half-timbered houses. Also within half an hour’s drive are the Rêve de Bisons animal park, the gorgeous Le Jardin Plume and the treetop trails at Arbr’en Ciel adventure park.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs are required to wear a muzzle.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
