  • Peaceful woodland setting near the hamlet of Odrimont
  • 3km from skiing at Le Monty and close to the GR 14 and GR 571
  • Fishing pond, playground and cosy café-bar with terrace
Bag a mountain biking or walking map from the team at Camping Gossaimont to thoroughly explore this peaceful and scenic land of pastures, meadows, forests and caves, 480 metres high up in the Hautes-Ardennes. The GR 14, connecting Paris to Belgium's Malmedy passes through the site's surrounding commune of Lierneux for those who want to tackle a mighty long walk (660 kilometres, to be precise), as does the GR 571, the Belgian trail running for an easier 166 kilometres through steep Ardennes valleys. (If you want to use Camping Gossaimont as a Belgian base rather than a stopoff on such lengthy treks, plenty of easier walks are in the area, or you could zip off to the Le Monty ski slopes for winter sports, three kilometres away.) The site is on the edge of a wood, near the hamlet of Odrimont in Belgium's Walloon region. It has a fishing pond for guests who aren't angling for walks of any distance, and a cosy café-bar with a terrace for even more contemplative and relaxed times. There's also a sand volleyball court if you do fancy some action, along with a pétanque court, table tennis and a playground to keep the kids busy. Activities and entertainment for all ages run in summer. Camping Gossaimont is in green countryside setting, with valley and mountain views and spacious washroom blocks. Barbecues are allowed if you want to cook up under your own steam, and there's a well-stocked mini market for supplies. A comfy café with open fire is at the nearby ski slope.

Local attractions

Maps of the local cycling and walking routes are available from the Camping Gossaimont team , or you could tackle the nearby 18-kilometre section of the mighty GR 14, from Lierneux to Trois-Pont via the Amblève river, the Baleur stream and the regional Belgian beer of Trois-Ponts. Top family days are within 10 kilometres of the site, at the waterpark of Aquafun Vielsalm and at the Coo waterfall, the 15-metre drop between Trois-Ponts and La Gleiz. Above the waterfall and open in high season is the Plopsa Coo amusement park, where you can go kayaking, miniature golf and go-karting, or take the chair lift to above the village for spectacular views of the Amblève valley. Kids (and grownups) of a speedy nature can have an afternoon out at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps 20 kilometres away, the venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix. There's also Stavelot Abbey within 15 kilometres), La Roche-en-Ardenne castle ruins (28 kilometres) and the Bastogne War Museum, 43 kilometres away.
