  • Family-friendly farm site next to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • A 20-minute drive from St Davids and 40 minutes from Tenby
  • Coastal paths nearby and sea views on site
Rummage through rockpools, surf over the swells or settle into a secluded spot among sandy beaches – they're all great options on the Pembrokeshire coast. Basking sharks, Risso’s dolphins, jellyfish and turtles return to these sandy coves every year… and it’s easy to see why. With seemingly endless sheltered bays and well-kept fishing villages nearby, The Stables sits right on the border of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and has commanding views over St Brides Bay. Within 20 minutes’ drive of the cathedral city of St Davids and 40 minutes from Tenby's family-friendly centre, this dog-friendly farm site welcomes families to indulge in sea views, city strolls and coastal capers over the clifftops. National trails, reeling in trout or kayaking out to sea? The decision is yours. This site is just 10 minutes’ drive from Nolton Haven beach and Rickets Head, with Little Haven beach 15 minutes away too. Further afield, the sheltered harbours of Solva and St Brides are also highly sought after. If all that sea air has you craving fish and chips, there are two pubs within 10 minutes’ drive, for takeaway and an open-air drink. Back on site, barbecues and campfires are permitted for an extra bite to eat. Handily, you won’t have to go far to source meat, as there’s a farm shop five minutes’ drive away and bigger supermarkets 10 minutes away in Haverfordwest.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We knew we had booked a basic campsite for a couple nights but I was really impressed with the facilities. A nice hot shower, clean toilets and a washing up station. The pitch was quiet, relaxed and only a short drive from the beach. Was nice to have a visit from the local farmers friendly dog :)

Disliked: I thought for the money there were no downsides. Perhaps the grass could have been a little shorter.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Really quiet location, with easy access to everything you need. The shower stopped working and the owners came straight to fix it. Loved that you could have camp fires ( we took a fire pit) showers/toilets were kept clean. Toilet roll was available but we did take our own. Also bleach was provided for the loo, and a hand towel.. which I thought was nice. Close to several beaches. We enjoyed a day down broad haven. Lovely chippy in the petrol station down the road. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked: The Welsh weather but that’s part and parcel with camping in wales.. didn’t dislike anything about the camp.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Really enjoyed how remote the field was and that could camp away from others, but still had good access to toilets which were kept clean and close to town for food and any bits and bobs which were forgotten!

Local attractions

Kids' day out on the cards? Follow the roar of the rollercoasters to Oakwood Theme Park (25 minutes’ drive) or have a little doze on the lazy river at Blue Lagoon Water Park (20 minutes). For more themed fun, children can play pirates or turn farmer for the day aboard a pedal tractor at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (half an hour). There's more action over at the coast. At Marloes Sands (half an hour), the two-mile stretch of sand catches the sea's best waves. If you have the knack for it, you can ride them to shore. And if balancing isn’t your strong suit, you can catch a powerboat from Neyland Marina (25 minutes) and tackle the waves front-on. From St Davids (20 minutes), voyage via ferry to the nature reserve on Ramsey Island, walk the four-mile loop and keep your eyes peeled for burrow-nesting birds and peregrine falcons. Wildlife spotting isn't just for the coast – find more at the wild animal safari at Manor Wildlife Park (35 minutes). Afterwards, celebrate the nature of the past at Dinosaur Park (25 minutes), a friendlier version of Jurassic Park. Castle capers are also close by, with Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (half an hour) and Pembroke Castle (half an hour) harbouring historic turrets.
