  • Rural Pembrokeshire site 10 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest
  • A 10-minute drive to Broad Haven beach; 20 minutes to Pembroke
  • Secluded dog-friendly pitches among woods and wildflower meadow
Can't decide between that trip to the coast or the country? Both are easily accessible from Kite View Farm, a rural site 10 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest (a handy spot indeed for exploring both Pembrokeshire's coastline and its rural attractions). If you’re looking to surround yourself with nature, this could be the place for you – it’s part of a working farm with its own ancient woodland (where you can sleep among the trees if you wish) along with a six-acre wild herb and flower meadow. Take wanders along local footpaths for a good rural fix if you like, or head to the coast to soak up the sea air: St Bride’s Bay is about a 10-minute drive away for walks on the Wales Coast Path or days on Broad Haven beach. Popular spots like Barafundle Bay, Marloes Sands, Tenby and St Davids are all within a half-hour drive too, although there are lots of hidden gems to find too if you know where to look. Facilities here include showers and compost loos, along with ice pack freezing to keep your food cool. Dogs are welcome to join you at this rural haven, and are provided with a dog park so they can have a good run about without disturbing the peace.

Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Fabulous place, peaceful and beautiful woodland walks. Lots of surprises hidden in the woods, little camping areas and quiet areas to sit and relax. Would definitely recommend. There is a really helpful and friendly guide on site if you need anything, who will sort out logs, maybe a bit of local shopping if you’ve forgotten anything essential, just ask for Mac! Lovely guy. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you.

Disliked: Nothing.

Meadow non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: If you like being away from it all, then you’ve come to the right place! There are only half a dozen or so pitches here that I could see, each with a composting toilet, picnic bench and fire pit. There were 3 other groups there when we arrived yesterday afternoon (10th June). The field itself was a grass meadow before it was mown, the hay bales are still in the field. There’s a stream amongst the trees and you’re surrounded at the edges by trees also. There’s a hot communal shower (heated by gas), a washing area and fire wood available (recommended for the primordial attraction of a real nature fire!). You can pay extra for the tree tents. There were some biting midges about our area so maybe take some repellent and/or a fly net. There’s plenty of nature around and we were kept entertained by a greater spotted woodpecker around our camp up until dusk. Thought we might hear some owls during the night but we didn’t. There is a train line somewhere near and apart from the sound of a train maybe once an hour, it was perfectly peaceful!

Tree rental tent

Liked: Booked a Tree Tent for one night in May. The pitch was clean, private and well organised and came with a good firepit, BBQ grill and a picnic bench, everything you need. There is a small shed with odds and ends in which is useful if you forget anything. Firewood is plentiful as you're camping in a woodland, or you can buy a decent sized back for £8. Site is well run and has a hot showers. I don't enjoy a composting toilet but these were well maintained and clean. Mark (owner) is a lovely chap and very helpful if you need anything. Very well located and 10 mins from a large Tesco to stock up on supplies and a quick hop to any of the coastal beaches in the area. Would stay again without hesitation.

Meadow non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful rural location, 30+m between pitches, lovely woods to walk in - my son loved the rope swing. Handy being a few minutes to the town and not much further to the beach

Disliked: Toilets/shower slightly too primitive for us

Local attractions

Point your compass towards the Pembrokeshire coast… surfers flock to Newgale beach (20 minutes’ drive), and with kit hire and lessons on offer beginners could pick up a new hobby too. Sea angling is popular at Marloes Sands (20 minutes), a long, rocky stretch of sand, while Tenby (half an hour) has tons more watersports rentals and sandy beaches, as well as rib rides or trails around the town for those who’d rather stay dry. To round off your coastal itinerary, you might want to call in at Britain’s smallest city, St Davids (half an hour), or bring your bucket and spades down to the stunning sand on Barafundle Bay (half an hour). The coastal path is one way to make your way around the many coves, stopping off at Bosherston lily ponds (25 minutes) to see the water lilies. If you’re able to pull yourself away from the coast, there’s a lot of places to visit inland too, from a guided tour around the huge Pembroke Castle (20 minutes) to a visit to Llys-y-frân (25 minutes), a lake in the Preseli Hills where watersports and outdoor activities are the speciality – you could try out archery, canoeing or paddleboarding here.
