Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The camp site is absolutely stunning, views on all sides including the sunrise/set. The site itself is perfect for a family, plenty of room to play games outside your tent or have a bbq. The toilets were always clean and the price for staying on the campsite was very reasonable.

Disliked: The showers were cold, but this was stated before arrival.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely lovely site, with the most incredible views. Toilets cleaned twice daily. Shower cold, but as advertised. Site in clean. We will be back.

Disliked: Selfish campers, that were still blasting their music at 11:15pm on Saturday night, despite site rules. Contact site owner, who said he would come and speak to them, luckily they switched off before it came to that. Following night, they turned it off by 11.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Stunning location. Good base. Friendly hosts. Very cheap prices. Just what needed for a lovely long weekend away. Explored parts of Anglesey not been to, as never stayed on that side of the island.

Disliked: Nothing. I know hot water will be installed soon, but that didn't matter

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful location overlooking the sea. One side is west facing which makes for a perfect sunset. Right next to Mynydd y Garn (hill with trig point) which we went up and used as a landmark throughout our trip to find our way back to the site. Very friendly staff. Check out at any time which was super helpful to allow our tent to dry before packing (after night rain)! Tip for others - it's a large site so drive around first to find the best spot to pitch up. Also as a tip for where to go, we ran from the site Cemlyn nature reserve (seals, oystercatchers, little egret) and ran all the way along the coast to Wavecrest cafe - beautiful scenery (15 k in total). Also take a hat, it can windy on the top of the hill!

Disliked: Cash only which was fine and we were told about this in advance. But us being unorganised we'd not brought cash with us! The staff were lovely though and there was no pressure to get the cash, we paid on the second day. Had to drive about 15 miles to the nearest cash point.

Local attractions

You might first spot the Goleudŷ Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid (The Skerries Lighthouse) from the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Up close, after a chartered boat ride from Holyhead (25 minutes’ drive), the view is even better, and the birdwatching just as splendid. The seabird colony at Cemlyn North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) is pretty spectacular to watch too. A shingle ridge, lagoon and plants such as sea kale and sea campion are part of the highlight reel at this place – just the thing if you're a fan of spying on wildlife. Those of you who are planning on spending a lot of your downtime beside the sea will be happy to find that there are a number of beaches that are easy to get to from Llain Ffynnon Camping. In fact, the National Trust’s Traeth Ynys y Fydlyn is half an hour’s walk away, and there are caves and rockpools to rummage around down there. Further out, other gorgeous beach locations include Cemlyn Bay (15 minutes’ drive), Porth Trwyn (10 minutes) and Traeth Porth Wen Beach (15 minutes).
