  • Clovelly village and The Milky Way Adventure Park 10 minutes’ drive
  • Indoor pool with hot tub; summer restaurant; fishing lake
Moorhead Country Holidays is set in 10 acres of Devon landscapes with spectacular views over unspoilt North Devon hills and woodland. It’s based in Woolsery village (half an hour’s drive from Bude), close to Westward Ho! (25 minutes) and only 10 minutes by car from the pretty fishing town of Clovelly. All manner of thoughtful family amenities on site include a play area and a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course. There’s a fishing lake for keen anglers, and a gym on site so you can keep up your fitness regime, plus an indoor pool – when you’ve expended enough energy, go and have a chill in the hot tub. (Please note an extra charge applies for use of the pool, hot tub, gym and fishing lake.) An inviting bar-restaurant is open six evenings (not Sunday) a week in summer, and for times when it is closed, Woolsery has a grocery store, fish and chip shop and pub.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (no pets)

Liked: Lovely staff, beautiful setting, handy location for travelling around Devon and Cornwall. Nice little bar on site, good space for the children to explore and roam. Excellent range of games and things for the kids to do inside. Pool was clean and well kept. Showers and toilets were immaculate. Good size pitch size too.

Disliked: Not a lot!

Liked: Absolutely loved everything about this site. The staff, the facilities, so much to keep the kids entertained. The sunsets and the phenomenal stars! They’ve only this year opened the campsite but it’s a hidden gem. We will definitely be returning next year.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Absolutely horrendous attitude and customer service from business owners. Not child and family friendly, 20/30 mins from anything.. ie beaches, supermarkets etc. road to campsite I awful, full of pothole. The sites private driveway for customers had large pot holes.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (no pets)

Liked: A fantastic, quiet, friendly family run campsite and holiday complex in a beautiful rural setting. We loved the trampoline and swing, games room and access to the onsite pool. The restaurant and bar were welcoming and the food was lovely. The pitches were spacious and there were only a few other campers so plenty of space.

Disliked: The only thing that let this site down was a single shower/toilet for each gender for all the campers. Be prepared to wait/come back later if you need the loo or to have desperate kids banging on the door while you grab a quick shower!

Liked: Everything. Lovely place to stay. So many things available and great family run complex. My children absolutely loved it and we would definitely visit again

Disliked: Only critism is that there is only one toilet per gender, that is also joined to the changing room and shower so limits availability to access which isn't ideal with younger children mainly.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely rewiew, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and would love to welcome you and the girls, back in the future. As a 28 day pop up campsite, we realise that the changing rooms could be enlarged, if we feel the site is successful, we would definetly get this done. In the mean time we are keeping our numbers low, and have not yet 'fingers crossed' noticed any quewing. Kindest regards, Mandy Tom Martin and Tessa.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (no pets)

Liked: We had a warm welcome when we arrived and was shown around the facilities. The pitches were spacious and flat and the distance to main reception and toilets was not too far. The games room and swimming pool went down a treat with the children (I loved the hot tub!) and as it rained on our last day, we spent most of our time in there to keep dry. There was so much to do if the weather is not good- Hundreds of games, dvds, a pool table, table tennis, darts and table football. When the weather was nice, we enjoyed a walk around the lake and the children loved the play area. There was also pitch and putt. The facilities were clean and I could tell that a lot of time and effort had gone in to making this place modern and appealing. There was a bar and restaurant which also did take away food. The area was quiet and away from main roads. The only noise we heard were the neighbouring farm animals but even they were fairly quiet! The sky at night was beautiful and full of stars due to low light pollution in the area. I would definitely book again. Its a great location for exploring North Devon and close to a shopping centre with food outlets and a supermarket.

Disliked: Just a suggestion and definitely not a complaint but an area for campers to prepare food away from the tent would be handy. A microwave would also be good. There was no kettle but when I asked for one, it was brought out instantly and nothing was too much trouble.
