  • Peaceful, rural campsite with sea views on a working Cornish farm
  • A 40-minute drive to the Eden Project and 30 minutes from Polperro
  • Grass pitches with Seaton beach, a pub and café in walking distance
Fancy camping on a working Cornish farm with spectacular views of the coastline and cattle grazing nearby? Trerieve Farm is just the spot for you then, set on a peaceful headland overlooking the sea, and with the added bonuses of a couple of beaches nearby for the kids and a local pub for you. This campsite will take you right back to basics, with simple amenities including a composting toilet and cold drinking water on tap. Pitches are on a flat, grassy field overlooking the sea, and you can park by your tent. It’s well away from the road, so there’s plenty of room for children to play safely, and the dog gets to join you on your mini break too. And talking of the pooch, dog-friendly Seaton beach is sheltered by high cliffs, and kids can swim safely – and for a change of scenery you can all walk along the promenade to Downderry shingle beach (both a five-minute drive) for rock pooling and crabbing adventures. Sleepy Seaton village itself has got a waterfront pub, a beach café (both serve great fish and chips) and a couple of arty shops where you can pick up souvenirs. If you fancy some fish straight from the boat, Looe harbour is your spot, but for major foodie shopping expeditions, you’re best to head for Liskeard (20 minutes), which has a couple of handy supermarkets.

Local attractions

Right next-door to the campsite and set among woodland, Seaton Valley Countryside Park (five minutes’ drive) is a cracking spot for wildlife spotting, where you might get lucky and see otters in the river or kingfishers flashing about. It’s also got an outdoor gym, sensory garden and picnic spots. A trip to Cornwall wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the Eden Project (40 minutes) to see the ever-changing displays of rare flowers and trees in wacky glass biodomes. Closer to home, families can zipwire across the water and try out go-karting at Adrenalin Quarry (15 minutes), or pop in to see the primates at Wild Futures, The Monkey Sanctuary (10 minutes). Driving along winding Cornish lanes, you’ll come upon some gorgeous seaside spots, from Polperro (30 minutes) to Fowey (50 minutes). If you’d rather explore on foot, the South West Coast Path (five minutes) runs along the coastline in both directions for amazing views and some challenging climbs.
