  • Small, secluded site in a meadow on a Cornwall flower farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Stithians Lake: well placed for both coasts
  • Two pubs within walking distance, plus pop-up pizza and pasty nights
What a fabulously flower-filled location this is… in fact, The Flower Hut Glampsite is part of a Cornish flower farm that grows all sorts of blooms that form the various creations of owner Beth, an award-winning florist. That means you can expect this site to be packed with colour and buzzing with wildlife for much of the year – just the thing for a nature-inspired holiday. The flower meadows are a joy to wander around (and Beth will happily give you a tour while you’re here), but there’s more to this site than just the pretty petals. It’s also been set up with lots of lovely touches, including an honesty bar with local beverages, and a bundle of firewood thrown in for each booking (and more available to buy if you need it). Two pubs are within walking distance, and Beth also organises pop-up wood-fired pizza and Cornish pasty night where you can gather with fellow guests for a tasty supper. Several other handy bits are provided too, including laundry facilities, wifi and a washing-up area, and there’s plenty of car parking a little way removed from where you’ll stay (thus keeping things quiet and safe around the accommodation area. The meadow has paths mowed into it so that it’s easy to walk through, and Beth’s happy to lend a hand with luggage. Just as appealing as the site itself is its location – this spot 20 minutes’ drive from Truro is pretty much equidistant from both north and south coasts and only a couple of miles from Stithians Lake, a popular spot for watersports.

Local attractions

There’s nothing like a bit of local knowledge, so Beth has compiled a guidebook that will be emailed to you before arrival to help you make the most of your stay. Among her top tips are days out at Stithians Lake (10 minutes’ drive) for paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing, trips to Trebah Garden (25 minutes) for more flower-filled strolls and ways to explore the little coves along the Helford River. It’s worth taking time to see a bit of both coastlines too. Perhaps you’d like to head north to Gwithian beach (half an hour) or arty St Ives (35 minutes), or south to St Michael’s Mount (35 minutes), the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth (20 minutes) or the gorgeous shoreline of the Lizard Peninsula (half an hour)? And of course there’s always the option of going all the way to Land’s End (50 minutes) to see where the two coastlines meet…
