  • Rural pop-up campsite five minutes' drive from north Cornwall coast
  • Tintagel Castle, Boscastle and Port Isaac all within 15 minutes' drive
  • In the grounds of a brewery with beer garden and bistro on site
A Cornwall campsite that’s got easy access from the main road, village facilities close by and a peaceful rural location just a few minutes’ drive from the gorgeous north coast for strolls on the South West Coast Path, trips to Tintagel Castle or days on the beach… well, it doesn’t get much better than that, right? Well, actually… the folk at Country to Coast Camping have raised the stakes just that bit higher on the location front, because this pop-up site is within the grounds of Tintagel Brewery, an award-winning brewery with a lovely café/bistro on site. It’s open from Wednesday through to Sunday for breakfasts, lunches and dinners – plus of course a well-earned local pint or two in the beer garden (which, handily, has a play area to keep the kids entertained while you chill out). Staying right there at the brewery also means you can have a little peek inside to learn a bit more about the brewing process at the viewing gallery. And of course you’ll be able to pick up bottled beers to take home or to accompany a barbecue back at your pitch. Speaking of barbecues, you’re welcome to bring one along for your self-catering suppers – they’re at their best when piled up with home-reared wagyu beef from the suckler herd that lives on site. Any other bits you need can usually be picked up from the shops in Tintagel village or Camelford (both five minutes’ drive).

Local attractions

Tintagel is, of course, most well known for its castle, which has associations with King Arthur and a stunning setting on a little island. A 10-minute drive gets you there from the site to cross the new bridge and make your way to Merlin’s Cave. For more magic and myth, head also to The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic (10 minutes’ drive) or the cool waters of St Nectans Glen (15 minutes), said to be home to a host of fairies. And that’s just a couple of spots on the coast… you may also like to hit the sands at Trebarwith Strand (five minutes), try your surf skills at Polzeath beach (20 minutes) or stop by in Port Isaac (15 minutes) to wander around a classic Cornish fishing village. Other options? Well, you head to Bodmin Moor for a walk up Brown Willy (25 minutes), the highest point in Cornwall, see the planes at Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall at War Museum (10 minutes), try coasteering and climbing (15 minutes) or explore the themed biomes of the Eden Project (40 minutes).
