  • Sheltered campsite on a cattle farm in a quiet Cornish valley
  • A 10-minute drive from Mousehole or Penzance town centre
  • Half a mile from fishing at Drift Reservoir and the A30 road
Farms, fishing villages and bouncing from beach to beach – it's got to be Cornwall. This particularly quiet and sheltered holiday spot is right at the end of England's pointiest county (well, almost – it's about eight miles from Land's End) and is conveniently located just off the A30 road. Bellogas Farm Camping is surrounded by the well-maintained grounds of a fourth-generation Cornish cattle farm. The site borders quiet countryside and is based in a west-facing field, so guests staying here have good grounds to hope for a spectacular sunset or two. The farm is set in a shallow valley around a former tin stream and is about two miles from the nearest stretch of coastline. Shower, washing-up and toilet facilities are all provided on site, and there are lots of nearby leisure options within very easy reach. Half a mile away, for instance, there are trout fishing opportunities at the Drift Reservoir, while Penzance's gorgeous open-air Jubilee Pool is approximately a 10-minute drive away. As the crow flies, the nearest supermarket is in Newlyn (five minutes' drive), but for bigger stores and more choice you might prefer to stock up in Penzance – although it's slightly further away, getting there should take roughly the same amount of time. Please be mindful of the fact that this land returns to pasture in the autumn and do not do anything that could damage the grass (gas barbecues are permitted but not disposable ones, thanks). The farm next door, five minutes' walk away, is a buffalo farm, where guests can buy freshly-made buffalo mozzarella cheese and buffalo meat for the barbecue.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: I cannot be more grateful with the owners of Bellogas Farm Camping, they are excellent hosts that made sure everything was working properly. The bathroom and showers were lovely and clean and they gave us great local advice of places to visit. We had some issues with the transportation due to the bank Holliday (we didn’t go by car) but they offered us a lift in a few occasions which really changed our stay in Penzance as we wouldn’t have been able to make it in time for a few things. Really kind and generous! Thank you for making our stay amazing! Aish and Lujan

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Loved our stay here. Quiet campsite, just off the A30, and perfect for exploring the local area. Owners were friendly and welcoming with great local knowledge. Any problems on site and they were there straight away. All facilities were well maintained and spotlessly clean. Unmarked pitches so choose the spot you want with loads if space available. Already discussed our next trip back here, we loved it so much.

Liked: Bellogas camping is a wonderful site to stay on. The owner was incredibly helpful and conscientious and the facilities were superbly kept. The showers and toilets were lovely and clean and the site itself was beautiful. The site itself is a 5 minute drive from Penzance where there are all the shops and amenities that you might need and it is not much further in either direction to Mousehole or Marazion. A great spot for spending time in Cornwall. You couldn’t ask for more!

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: This site was perfect for us. Paul (owner) was wonderful, super friendly, helpful and a joy to chat too. The location is amazing, short drive to Mousehole, penzance, Newlyn. The site is tucked away and sheltered. It is a little pop up site but toilets and showers were cool and this is all we needed. We didn't want a busy site were everyone is on top of each other.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: This campsite was amazing and the owners were friendly, very knowledgeable about the area and attentive to our needs. The facilities were kept clean tidy and topped up with everything you need and were great. The pitch was level and sheltered from the wind which was a great bonus. Only short car journeys to visit everything in West Cornwall. We are looking forward to coming back soon. Also recommend going to the neighbouring farm and buying some buffalo mince and making your own burgers for the BBQ and some buffalo mozzarella absolutely beautiful.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike here.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Had an overnight stay here and will stay for longer if we come back. The owner was very friendly and came to see us when we arrived. He gave us some good information of local places to go and see like Mousehole and taking the train from St Erth to get to St Ives which was very helpful. The site itself is huge and plenty of space and very flat. As said by others the showers are amazing and definitely the best we’ve had on our trip (although my only gripe is having to hold the shower head). The toilets are spotless as was the showers. The site is set away from the main roads so it is very quiet and peaceful at night. We got a friendly welcome from the cows in the morning when they came running down the field to the gate to meet us.

Disliked: Nothing

Local attractions

Just arrived? Newlyn (five minutes' drive) is as good a place to start as any. This small seaside spot has a beach, harbour and is home to Jelbert's, a family-run ice cream shop that's renowned throughout these westernmost reaches of Cornwall. Mousehole (10 minutes) has similar simple pleasures, with the added bonus of views overlooking nearby St Clement's Isle. Marazion – and St Michael's Mount just offshore – (both 20 minutes) are two more absolute musts when visiting this part of the county… just keep an eye on the tides if you're planning on walking over the causeway. For cultural entertainment, there's the spectacular Minack Theatre close by too (20 minutes), as well as the amusements and model village at Land's End (15 minutes) if you're looking for family-friendly. History and heritage abound in this part of Cornwall too – PK Porthcurno, a museum about the role this part of the world played in the birth of wireless technology, is about 20 minutes away, while much more ancient sights like the Merry Maidens stone circle (10 minutes) and Carn Euny (15 minutes) are similarly accessible.
