Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: We've stayed her at least 5 times. Love the back to basics feel of the site. Toilets are always clean and have loo roll. Can pitch where you want and it's never overbooked, loads of space! Bear in mind it's over a flight path, if you're a light sleeper, this might not be ideal.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: Nice simple little campsite pretty much on the hadrians wall path. It's semi wild camping but with porta loos. The owner is very nice, friendly and the value of the wood she sells is incredible. Plenty of spaces around the site and plenty of people walking the wall

Not well maintained - this goes a bit beyond just back to basics.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: It's the only camping option around Heddon
Disliked: Granted, we arrived after heavy rain, but the site is not particularly well maintained and wasn't able to cope with the rainfall. It was absolutely bogged and there were large sections that were nearly impassable as it was so water logged. Proper drainage and maintainence of the grass could have made it significantly better. There were no owners or staff on site the whole time we were there. The single water tap was almost impossible to get to given the flooding on the site. The portaloos were fine, but because of the lack of draining and maintenance it was a bit of a mud bath getting to them and then of course there was an awful lot of mud inside. Also agree with a previous review that most other campsites on the wall help out walkers by having picnic tables, etc.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: With widely open space for kids to play. Enough distance between pitch and friendly staffs to assist. Reasonable admission fee. Movable toilet is good, can't complain.
Disliked: Little bit far away and less number of water tap, preferable more. Driveway too muddy for vehicles crossing the entrance, easier to get stuck.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked: The general location is good not too far out. The toilets are generally quite clean and there’s enough space for everyone to camp.
Disliked: It was completely circumstantial, however when and where we camped overnight the ground became entirely waterlogged and it took over our gazebo. When we woke in the morning it was like stepping straight into a puddle and as the gazebo fell down one of the poles had snapped breaking it. The area near the wayer pump turned into a complete bog overnight and we were all soaked.
