  • Wild camping site in a quiet rural location with views of Welsh hills
  • A 15-minute drive from Wrekin and 25 minutes from Ironbridge
  • A 20-minute walk from a pub and opposite a vineyard; dogs welcome
Do as little or as much as you like at Eco Patch, a small site in a rural location. This wild camping Shropshire site has stunning views of Welsh hills and Wrekin. The latter, a Shropshire hill visited by the likes of Charles Dickens and old poets, is only a 15-minute drive away from the site and an excellent place for hiking or biking. That’s the views – the neighbours are just as interesting. Four very friendly ponies and some inquisitive goats and sheep live in the neighbouring field. There are a small number of houses nearby, so large groups wanting to party aren’t permitted. Instead, this is a quiet family site – although, that being said, opposite is Rodington vineyard, which sells award-winning wine. Therefore, you may want to end your day with a glass of the local produce from said vineyard, if you’re not already busy snacking or tucking into a three-course meal at the local pub 20 minutes’ walk away in Rodington. The nearby towns of Wellington (10 minutes’ drive), Shrewsbury (25 minutes) and Telford (15 minutes) have shops should you need to pick up groceries or you feel the need to engage in some retail therapy. Other than a toilet, a small dining area and containers of water for washing, there are no other facilities at Eco Patch. They are kept minimal for a truly wild experience with the stunning scenery and excellent sunrises. Well-behaved dogs are permitted; they must be kept on a lead and under control due to the livestock surrounding the site, as well as cleaned up after. There’s a footpath running alongside the site, which is handy for their daily walks.
