  • A 20-minute drive from Skegness beaches, fairground and seal sanctuary
  • Within 25 minutes of the Viking Way and Lindsey Trail scenic routes
Country footpaths, home-cooked local produce and traditional ales, coastal walks and castles… half an hour’s drive from New York? No, there’s no mistake, but the New York in question is in rural Lincolnshire, as is the quiet, simple and very uncitylike Eaves Inn. As you may have guessed, there's a country pub to be found here... The site's at the back of a traditional country inn, open from Thursdays to Sundays to serve local ale from its cosy bar and a wide menu of eats in its restaurant. It's all rather scenic too, as pitches are in a wide field with views across farmland and fen, in the centre of the village of Little Steeping. Around the region, it's a 20-minute drive from here to Skegness. Shops and supermarkets are in Skegness and barbecues are allowed on this adults-only site, you can indulge in a bit of outdoor grilling any time you like. Work up an appetite by taking the dog for a brisk walk on the footpaths passing by the site. While the combination of pub plus field plus view is spectacularly simple, that doesn’t mean roughing it: a modern block combines hot showers, sinks and a washing-up area, all of it gleaming and heated.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Very clean and well laid out. Toilets very clean. It's a quiet adults only site behind a village pub with 18 pitches. The food is excellent but F.Y.I. the pub is only open Thur, Fri, Sat evening and for Sunday lunch. Easy access to the coast (Skeggy, Mablethorpe etc.) Great places to walk.

Disliked: They have 15 grass pitches and 3 gravel. We have a motorhome and booked a gravel pitch but on arrival the sign said park in whichever pitch you want as non are reserved. Luckly we managed to get one of the gravel pitches. Wifi in and around the pub but doesn't reach the site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. pleased you you loved the food. The pub is open on those days because this is not a passing trade pub, no foot fall , a destination venue. I do have 15 pitches on the grass which I only let out 10 at a time and yes 3 on the gravel which I only let out 2 at a time. which means you had a choice of 3. You booked a gravel pitch you had a choice of the gravel pitches because that is what you chose, is that not logic. or am I stupid . The Wfi, I pay extra for it to reach down on to the site and I have asked a lot of guests about it and most have had reception down onto the site not always great as the further you get away from the wifi booster/extender. I am always going back to BT about it but we will never have super fast fibre even though it has been laid in the village it ends at a box just up the road. I was so excited when I saw Open Reach laying fibre cables about 5/6 years ago I asked the guys putting them in, they said we are laying them but do not get your hopes up because you will not be getting it, it stops at the box and not connected to anything. I am quite lucky here because I am one of the nearest to the little BT exchange so I am one of the first in line for internet connection. Living in the country I love it. Thank you again for your review

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely quiet site pub and food was amazing really enjoyed our stay with our dog

Disliked: Grass wasn’t picked up and got a lot in tent and didn’t get hot water to wash pots but not a big problem we just boiled kettle

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your great review. I saw you come out of the wash up area that morning and the electric to the boiler had tripped and switched the boiler off I turned it back on as soon as I realised. If there is never any hot water it is worth giving me a ring it is usually just something really simple. The grass, this as I have explained so many times before is a small privately owned campsite (very small), the grass is cross curt and mulched so the nutrients go back into the ground there is no room for a big smelly grass dump. I really look forward to seeing you again

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Site was Very Large and have the choice of where you pitch up. Nice quiet location lovely and relaxing. Easy access to the pub on site. Food excellent in there, highly recommended.

Disliked: The Only Minor thing we disliked was the Speed of service in the pub and choice of lagers/draught beers. We booked a table for 7 and didn't eat until 8 30. We weren't in any rush so wasn't a problem necessarily. Quality of meals made up for it also.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. The choice of lagers and beers I am not a drinkers pub so I stock what sells The speed of service I remember that really well because you food went to the wrong table by the wating staff, I was really annoyed I was told you had an apology. The apology went to the table that got your food, over 45 mins early. sorry again Hope to see you again,

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful location The pub on site food fantastic and friendly staff

Disliked: A couple off things that I disliked 1) only 2 cubicles with showers and toilet, inside could do with more extra toilets as people having showers take their time and no toilet to use 2) Some off the pitches was to far away from the electric hook up 3) It is an adults only campsite yet the people who were across from us had a baby with them. We picked this campsite because it was adults only and to be woken in the middle of the night from crying was not happy No one came and checked

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review I am pleased you liked the site and the pub and of course the food. The people with the baby were spoken to on Saturday when they arrived, they did not declare the fact that they had a child on their booking form if they had they would have been cancelled, I was fuming, and they were told in no uncertain terms that it was totally unacceptable, they said they did not know but it clearly states on the booking form adults only over the age of 21. Had it not been a bank holiday weekend they would have been asked to leave but there was nowhere for them to go. Not that I have had any thanks from them. They will not be able to book this site again as I have blocked their ability to do so and reported them back to pitchup for breaking booking conditions. That also includes the other couple that came with them. The shower facilities are adequate for the number of pitches that I let out at any one time, a lot of guest bring their own chemical toilets. If you found your pitch was too far from the electric hook up. we lend out extension leads free of charge you only had to ask. Look forward to seeing you again.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: lovely clean facilities, the pub was nice and the staff were incredibly friendly. so much space to set up as you want to. I am glad I went to Spilsby and took the main road in as some of the roads to the sight were a bit tight but this did add to the fun for us. WIFI was a bit spotty but given the location that's to be expected we still managed to stream a film or two and it was only stopped once or twice to buffer

Disliked: a couple that were staying had 2 little brown barking dogs they were aggressive towards all dogs that were anywhere as well as people I know this isn't the sites fault it is the irresponsible owners who didn't have them on leads. I didn't appreciate having to tell them to pick up the poop their delightful mutt left next to my caravan.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review.. The people with the two little dogs did not go unnoticed, it is very sad when you have to tell irresponsible dog owners to keep their dogs under control, keep them on leads if they can't and pick up after them, it is common curtesy. We did applaud you for telling them to pick up. there are plenty of notices around telling people to do so . Hopefully we will see you both again.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The site was a nice grassy area behind the pub in a pretty and very quiet village. The shower worked very well and was clean. There was easy access to fresh water and it was great to be able to dispose of chemical waste.

Disliked: Not a dislike, more of a thought for the owners…. Perhaps a dedicated area for bbqs that may leave scorch marks on the grass would be an idea.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your great review. There is nowhere to put a BBQ area, we do allow BBQs as long as they are kept off the ground if you want to BBQ and you have bought a disposable one we do have bricks that you can borrow to keep them off the grass. Many thanks again

Local attractions

If seeking a taste of traditional seaside stuff, set course for Skegness for sands and dunes, fairground rides and pier promenades, and endearing encounters with the residents of Natureland Seal Sanctuary. For meetings of the furred and feathered kind, it’s 15 minutes to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, home to tigers, tapirs, lemurs and hundreds of species of rescued parrots. If you prefer your wildlife in the wild, make the half-hour journey to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, a prairie-like vastness of dunes and wetlands where you can spot terns and skylarks while walking the trails. For longer hikes and bike rides, Horncastle (25 minutes) is a hub for two major routes: the Viking Way links the Humber Estuary with Rutland Water over 147 miles of grand terrain, while the 80 miles of the Lindsey Trail focus on the chalk hills, woodlands and ancient history of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Wartime history lies thick on the ground in these parts too, thanks to the role played by Lincolnshire’s people and airfields in the Battle of Britain: learn more at the Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre and the International Bomber Command Centre (20 minutes, half an hour and an hour away). Whether birdwatching or battlements are your bag, Tattershall Castle (half an hour) is worth a turn around, with 15th-century show-off interiors, woodlands full of wildlife and lakes nearby for wakeboarding and watery assault courses.
