Electric grass pitch (XL)

Liked: The shower block and toilets are brilliant and well kept, the grown is good too. There is a nice lake which you can fish on and the area is nice to walk round. The owner keeps the younger children away from the lake and close to the shower block/park as well, which is amazing.

Disliked: The pitch size was advertised as unlimited but it’s not. There are specific plots with numbers but the neighbours are still close. When we were there, they had 3 tents and 2 touring caravans in 3 pitch’s. 2 field’s behind was empty which we didn’t understand and they had no younger children so they didn’t need to be on that field we was on. The owner told us that the field was kept for family with young children to keep them away from the lake. On the park, there is 2 exit’s which isn’t ideal as it does open on to a road (this road is within the camp site) and it’s not easy to see unless you’re on the park. The park is basic and could do with some extra facilities.

From the manager: I am sorry you felt that your pitch was not big enough. Your pitch measured 10 meters wide and 17 meters long. You objected when someone else was pitched on the next pitch to you, this was perhaps because you felt entitled to use two hook up points even though you had only paid for one. We also did not charge you for the 'extra' tent you chose to bring on your pitch. When you moved to a different pitch you carried on using the adjacent hook up as well until that pitch became occupied. To explain your misunderstanding regarding the pitches near to the shower block being used while others were vacant, they are not just for families with young children. We also have requests for these pitches from families with members who have special needs who need to be close to the shower block. Many of these special needs are not visible. As managers of the site we reserve the right to allocate the pitches as we see fit to accommodate the needs of all of our guests.

Liked: The location of the site was perfect. Felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but within driving distance of shops & only 10mins from skegness.

Disliked: There was quite a bit of bird pooh on the ground but it was easy enough to dodge.

Local attractions

Bring your bikes along if you can, as the farm is on the edge of the Wolds, land so flat that you could pedal around it all day. Plenty of quiet back lanes are around to explore, so bring along binoculars too as some of the loudest noises here come from birds. Areas of wetland habitat to encourage wading birds and wildfowl have been set up by neighbouring farmers. Seaside? The lively entertainment of Skegness and Ingoldmells are nearby, for days at Fantasy Island, the Embassy Theatre, Skegness pier, Skegness Aquarium, several golf courses, a swimming pool and fitness centre, Natureland, skate park and more. Quiet beaches (sometimes deserted) can be found 10 minutes south of Skegness at Gibraltar Point or further up the coast beyond Ingoldmells. For towns, Horncastle with its many antique shops is a 20-minute drive away (for a real antique hunt, go a little further afield to Hemswell Antique Centre, north of Lincoln), and the farm's nearest large town Boston is about 20 miles south with river cruises on the Wash and inland trips on the Witham via the Boston Belle. Also recommended by the Windfarm Park owners is the Battle of Britain memorial flight, based at RAF Coningsby.
