Liked: Aw what a fab site! Very well laid out and imaginative use of space, great environmental ethos for e.g. mowing glades, sustainable use of water and eco showers. The barn is a fantastic space, inclusive of bar, and is perfect for families, groups and as a hangout spot. Had a nosey on the converted buses which looked great, very creative. Composting toilets and sink area kept functional and clean. Quiet location though could hear distant music from an event on the wind, but not bothersome. Adorable alpacas on site who are clearly loved and well cared for. Didn’t meet Emms sadly but Dave could easily be a buddy! Friendly, approachable and helpful; can’t ask for more from a host. Will definitely be back with an alpaca & camping-mad friend when she returns to the UK, also wishing I could have stayed longer than my quick one night stopover!
Disliked: Nothing! Couldn’t get any heat from the eco shower (no real instructions found on how to turn it on!) but wasn’t an issue for a quick cold rinse, and did initially miss the turning from no obvious signage on the road but understand this is to keep it hidden and retreat-like. Outlet from washing up sink drained into just a bucket which was overflowing at the time, a soakaway or attenuation tank for grey water could help a better system to redistribute the water.

Liked: Fabulous campsite, beautiful meadow setting for pitches. Composting loos, fire pits and a cafe and bar in the barn along with games, football pitch and alpacas! Owners are very welcoming and helpful - fresh bread and eggs delivered to your pitch - they even offered extra blankets and a hot water bottle on a chilly May night. We will definitely come back and we recommend you give them a visit.
Disliked: We liked everything.

Liked: Dave and Emma are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. The Alpacas are awesome and feeding them is a must. I booked in for one night with my 2 daughters, 13 and 15 having researched the site and location. On arrival we were met by Emma who showed us to the field we were pitching in. We chose our pitch which was nice to do, I opted for one near the WC, must be my age! On pitching the tent I realised the tent pegs had failed to put themselves in the tent bag so asked Dave for some assistance. He located 21 pegs and brought them straight over. Panic over, the tent went up. Our traditional dinner of spag bol with home made Pesto was planned for 5.30 however just like the tent pegs the attachment that connects the gas bottle to the cooker had also failed to put itself in the car. MUST DO BETTER NEXT TIME!! Dave brought over a fire pit and logs so my eldest suggested cooking dinner over the fire pit once we had visited the barn for a game of table tennis and a quick beverage. We left the barn, which is a great place to meet others and enjoy a bottle of beer or wine and returned to our tent. The sky was beautifuly blue, very little wind and the sound of the birds chirping was very relaxing. A great place to be with family despite the operator errors by me. We managed to get the fire going with an extra 2 sheets of paper from my eldests revision pad before boiling pasta and heating up the sauce. Thinking ahead to breakfast time we cooked up the bacon and Sausages so we at least had something to eat before we met the Alpacas which we had booked in for 10am. The atmosphere was so peaceful as we sat outside watching a movie alfresco on our laptop. The great British weather did its best to dampen our visit and certainly made it challenging, however it just made it even more memorable for us all. We met the Alpacas at 10am after a coffee in the barn, (lifesaver). They are a great attraction, well looked after, safe to be around and awesome to feed. A must any kids to get involved in. They all have their own characters and Emma is very knowledgeable about them. We then packed up our gear and headed off home already thinking about returning later in the summer. All in all a great site which will only improve year after year as the site develops. Dave and Emma are great owners/hosts, very friendly and helpful and have a clear plan for the future. I look forward to returning and making more great family memories as well as exploring the wider area.
Disliked: Great un-predictable British weather

Liked: Thanks you Dave and Ems, Where do I start! This mostly definitely warmed my heart such a delightful hidden oasis, Just the retreat we needed. A warm welcoming from start to end lovely to meet such friendly hosts who live and breath compassion for their vision and are happy to help to make sure everyone has a highly enjoyable and relaxing stay. Fabulous to see them gathered by the fire and even joining in football games, the children especially liked meeting their puppy on her morning walk. Generous privacy pitches that we was able to self selected . Wonderful to see field-mice as we arrived, beautiful bouncing alpacas and listening to the sound of humming of bees and grasshoppers! We watched the sunset as the golden grass glistened, even got to see a shooting star! The night sky is amazing perfect for stargazing! If you need a relax then this is the spot! very much looking forward to using a hammock on our next stay. Dave and Ems looking forward to seeing you again at this hidden treasure, refreshing to have something so unique not far from where we live. Look forward to making more memories next time!
