Sol de Calpe Austral

The resort of Calpe has two sandy beaches to choose from, both with services to rent, plenty of space to play games in and sheltered waters for swimming. You can also get active on the water from the town’s watersports clubs, to try out waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, flyboarding and scuba diving. Within the resort are two nature parks, both very different but both worth a visit. By the water’s edge is the Penyal D’Ifach Natural Park, whose main attraction is a hike around the huge Peñon de Ifach limestone rock (there’s also an option to climb to the top for the brave and sure-footed). A 10-minute walk from the site takes you to Las Salinas, a nature reserve centred around a salt lagoon that’s home to a variety of birdlife including flamingos. If seeing the enormous rock towering over the resort has inspired you to take up climbing, a multi-activity centre in the resort can give you lessons before taking you to the cliffs of Mount Toix (10 minutes away) or the via ferrata climbing route in Ponoig (half an hour away). There’s also the option of exploring underground on a caving expedition to the Bolumini cave system half an hour away. Benidorm is a half-hour drive from Calpe.
