Dreaming of a rural getaway without having to leave the reassuring embrace of civilisation? Càmping Lacus, a family-friendly site in a quiet forested area close to the centre of L’Escala on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, allows you to settle down in a scenic spot while being within easy reach of everything you might need for your hols. The site is less than five minutes’ walk from Riells beach – the largest in L’Escala – where you can have a go at windsurfing or kayaking, take out a catamaran or simply doze on the sand. When you’re feeling the need for some retail therapy, the shops are a short walk away. On site, laze under the trees or plonk yourself next to the lake for a spot of fishing. If you’d prefer to get a bit more active, but still in peace and quiet, have a game of pétanque, rack up a game of billiards or take a walk around the lake. No idle times are quite complete without a good feed, so head to the on-site restaurant for a meal, then waddle over to the bar to unwind on the terrace with a drink or two (it’s your hols – no one will judge). If you’d prefer a change of scenery, there are plenty of restaurants within an easy walk.

喜欢 Beach and shops near by. People were very friendly and happy to help. There is plenty of trips organised by the site. We never went on any, as we were quite happy to stay on site this time just to relax.

不喜欢 You can fish( no need for a licence like it says on pitch up.) which if I knew sooner I would have tried fishing from day one.
As lack of fishing the reeds around the lake have built up.
For some reason the site shut the toilets and showers near by, so had to use some further away. Which was difficult for my husband with some disabilities.
We had WiFi on check-in in but it never worked

喜欢 I live the location close the the beach and nearby supermarket. Also a nice bar on site, and a great pizza place a few metres from the gate.

不喜欢 It has been said by many before, but toilets and showers. They are in desperate need of refurbishment. They are clean which is their saving grace but! They dont even provide toilet roll so if you forget and you need some, i hope you have some tissues handy. There are also a lot of 'grotty' permanent pitches which lowers the tone, though does make it generally quiet on site as many of the permanent pitches are not used much.

不喜欢 Sanitaire en très mauvaise état moisissures carrelage qui ce décolle et sale pour le prix il pourrais refaire les sanitaires.....il vous annonce la wifi en arrivant mais celle ci ne fonctionne pas

喜欢 Me gustó la parcela la tranquilidad. Se está muy a gusto y cómodo. Repetiremos sin duda.

不喜欢 No me gustaron los lavabos y las duchas. Me parecen que las duchas y los lavabos deberían estar en mejores condiciones ya que muchas familias como nosotros vamos con niños pequeños.

There’s more to L’Escala than just the beach. Càmping Lacus is within walking distance of the scenic Old Town and the museum of Alfolí de la Sal – while you’re wandering the streets, be sure to take the time to try the local delicacy: anchovies. There are oodles of factories to visit, and the Museu de l’Anxova i de la Sal is worth a stop. The site is a 10-minute drive from the remains of the millennia-old trading town, Empúries, where you can explore the ruins that date to the second-century BC and visit the Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya. For a taste of human folly, pull on your serious shoes and hike to the spectacular but unfinished Montgrí Castle at the top of Torroella de Montgrí mountain then make yourself feel better about the successes of human civilisation with a visit to the Fundació Mascort gallery, both less than 20 minutes from Càmping Lacus. If you want a broader urban experience than you’ve had in L’Escala, the museums, galleries, restaurants and shops of the city of Girona are less than an hour from the site. The Museu del Cinema-Col·lecció Tomàs Mallol, the Passeig de la Muralla and, 20 minutes outside the city, the Fundació Mona primate sanctuary are must-sees.
