There's a comely little village near the mountain site of Camping El Cantonet, set in the Andalucian massif of the Sierra Mágina and in the province of Jaén. It's Albánchez de Mágina, home of an ancient Moorish fortress along with handsome white Andalucian buildings and traditional festivals and carnivals in the summer months – and then there are the Iberian and Roman remains, or just loafing around the scenic town plaza… Away from town, El Cantonet is a quiet site, surrounded by the mountains and with several hiking, cycling and horse riding routes nearby. It has two pools, one for adults and one for kids, as well as a playground, a games/common room with TV, and a café and bar serving local cuisine and drinks. Amenities include a laundry area, sinks, and two loo and shower blocks (ladies' and gents'), both with disabled access and hot running water.

喜欢 Everything ,,, yes the pitches are long and private with water and ehu.
We didn't need to put the awning out as there's 10ft x 10ft of area behind my van (7.5mtr long) to sit shaded by a big tree.
Pool was great.
Toilets and showers were clean.
Oh yes, the owners were very helpful with everything.
The locations views are stunning.

喜欢 The site, very dramatic scenery, good quality pitches and facilities. The staff (family business), couldn't do enough for you. If we wanted to go to Jaen without taking the van, they offered to drop us to the village to get the bus, and pick us up on the return!

不喜欢 The site is isolated but can't really blame that on them as it IS the only site in this area.

喜欢 I wanted peace and quiet and that is what I got. The pitch was big and private with hedge fences between plots. There are sun shades over most of the plots although some needed re hanging. This was a bonus due to the extreme heat during my stay. Every pitch had its own drinking water supply and electric hook up if needed. The wash rooms and toilets were clean and well presented. The reception included a small shop with just basic provisions and fresh bread available every day and you could get a pizza if wanted. I did not use the wiFi so cannot comment on its coverage.

不喜欢 For me, nothing to dislike.

喜欢 Me gustó la ubicación y las instalaciones. Buenas parcelas para montar tienda y coche con unas vistas excelentes. Trato muy agradable y buen precio.

不喜欢 En general me gustó por decir algo el he ho de no tener una tienda con más artículos pero eso no es un problema.

不喜欢 Pitches felt a little like (large) office cubicles. Relatively few (gents) toilets - some were broken or closed.

喜欢 We stayed for 3 nights so we could visit the region and go hiking. The location is spectacular.
Rural and family run.

不喜欢 Our 1st impressions were that it was a bit scruffy and rundown but we were here in February, just after the storms.

喜欢 What a lovely little site this is. The owner was very helpful and the facilities are great. We where able to pick our own pitch which was a good size for our 8m Motorhome. Toilets are very clean but a bit dated. Lovely views of the surrounding hills and countryside.

Most of the Sierra Mágina mountain range is in the Sierra Mágina Natural Park near Camping El Cantonet, a place of varied terrain including steep slopes for mountain biking and hiking, caving opps among the limestone and dolomite rocks, and Jaén's highest peak Pico Pandera at 1,722 metres. If you're spending some time in the national park (recommended), it's a fine plan to see how many of its towns and villages you can get to – Torres, Jimena, Bélmez de la Moraleda, Jodar and the heritage gardens of Pegalajar are all here – and try out the local dishes of the tapas bars and taverns while you're there (if you want a local foodie souvenir, pick up a few bottles of Sierra Mágina olive oil). The city of Jaén is 45km away: lashings of more golden olive oil can be found here (Jaén is nicknamed the olive oil capital of the world), and there are several festivals held in the city alongside its cafés, museums, castle and cathedral.
