If sandy beaches, ocean views and sunsets that are muy bonito is your dream recipe for switched-off hols, park up for a stay at Sanlúcar AC Parking, a family-friendly site 10 minutes’ drive from the town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda in the Cadiz province of Spain’s Andalucía. The site is right on the Costa de la Luz, so pack for beachy days under the Spanish sun, as the nearest beach is about a minute’s walk from base, and a quick jaunt into Sanlúcar will set you up for paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking along the town’s sandy stretches. For a change of scenery, climb into the saddle to pedal along the fab coastal greenway from Sanlúcar to Chipiona, with stops at the 13th-century castle and stunning lighthouse. And then? Take a break from sand, surf and cycling with a day kicking back on site: put your feet up, grab a book and pass some time in peace and quiet, or steal a little siesta in the lazy, hazy afternoon hours. When you’re ready to eat, saunter across the road to Gaspar’s for some eats, or wander into town for tapas and more substantial fare. A short stroll will bring you to the local for a few drinks, but don’t forget to poke your head outside to take in the spectacular sunset at some point during the evening (ideally at sunset).

喜欢: Lo cerca que está de la playa. Está apartado y la playa no es muy concurrida.

不喜欢: No hay forma de contratar electricidad, dice que ya tienen superada la potencia contratada y que no se puede contratar. Hay que pagar para las duchas 1 euro que duran 5 min. Para rellenar agua hay una pequeña manguera que tarda mucho. Llevaba una autocaravana con aa/CC y pasamos calor por la noche por no poder enchufarla. En internet me dieron un precio y cuando llegue era la mitad pero como había pagado por internet, pues... Para grandes cantidades no admiten tarjeta. El lugar está bien para estar cerca de la playa, no lo recomiendo en agosto. La gente no tiene respeto por los demás y hasta las tantas hacen ruido. Creo que no repetiré.

喜欢: Location is close to the sea

不喜欢: It’s cheap for a reason. The site is poor, the tide was out when I arrived which exposed 50 mtrs of mud before the sea. I didn’t stay as I couldn’t see anything attractive.

喜欢: A very warm welcome, nice clean pitches and basic but adequate facilities. Easy to cycle to Chipiona and easy to get the bus to Sanlucar. Don't be put off by the surroundings.

不喜欢: Felt a bit run down and like a gypsy site when we entered and the name outside bore no resemblance to the name of the site.

喜欢: Lovely quiet campsite with very friendly, helpful hosts. Toilet block is basic and clean. Bus stop outside the site to Sanlucar De Barrameda which is worth a visit. No barking dogs which is a a very welcome bonus for someone with a hearing impairment. Great wifi.

There’s plenty to do within an hour and a half of the site, but before you wander too far have a nose around Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The seaside town has palaces and castles, bike tours and scenic ruins, but it’s fans of the vino who’ll be best served: there are dozens of bodegas to choose from, and many are handily within walking (stumbling?) distance of home base. Stick with the urban with a day trip to Jérez (35 minutes’ drive) for museums, horseback riding tours and the zoo, or to Cadiz (40 minutes) for castles, Roman ruins and the pretty 18th-century gardens at Park Genoves. If that’s not enough for you, Seville and its three UNESCO World Heritage Sites are an hour and a half away, with the extremely photographic Plaza de España an absolute must. For some time in the outdoors, head 25 minutes away to Doñana National Park, Europe’s largest nature reserve: trek along the wetland trails, through the pine forests and among the dunes and keep an eye out for lynx and the elusive Spanish imperial eagle. Fancy pushing the boat out a bit? Clamber aboard a ferry in Tarifa (an hour and a half from base); within an hour or so, you’ll be strolling the streets, markets and galleries of Tangier, Morocco.
