Off to Almeria and want a site by the beach? Camping Mar Azul has two within walking distance (one sandy and one pebbly) and, to have you further hooked, is in the old Andalusia fishing village of Balerma. It's a friendly team here, all of whom know their stuff about what to do in the surrounding area and who want to help you make the most of your Spanish seaside hol. An entertainment team is on hand for on-site jollies in high season; off site, it organises outdoor activities like windsurfing classes and snorkelling expeditions (bring your diving mask if you want to dive in). Camping Mar Azul has an outdoor seasonal swimming pool and a paddling pool for toddlers, plus a fully-stocked supermarket, a launderette, a restaurant and free wifi. The residential area of Almerimar – with a golf course, watersports, beaches, restaurants and supermarkets – is 15 minutes' drive away.

It's Andalusia and Almeria, so it's not too surprising that the area around Camping Mar Azul is full of cultural, historical and architectural heritage… with nature parks, coastal hikes and family days out all easy to get to as well. At the nearby city of Almeria, easily reachable for a day trip, the main attractions are its Old Town, cathedral and ancient Alcazaba fortress; at Granada, the World Heritage Sites of old neighbourhood the Albaicín, Muslim palace the Alhambra, and its gardens, Generalife. Also within a short drive are the holiday resort and huge beaches of Roquetas de Mar; Andalusia's largest coastal protected area in Cabo de Gata National Park; the coastal landscape and cavernous caves of Nerja, and the wild west theme park Oasys or Mini Hollywood, which sprang up among the Western film studios of Almeria's arid area the Tabernas.

喜欢: Very welcoming, friendly staff.
Good on site restaurant and bar.
Excellent toilet and shower blocks - always clean even when site very busy - some of the best we have ever had on a site.
Very close to the beach.
Close to a small town for supplies.
Layout of pitches very good with hedges between for privacy. All level. Nice to have water at the pitch.
Site kept clean and tidy all round.
Price for electricity is worked out on what you use and is very good value.
Wi-Fi was very good.

不喜欢: Pitch was a little smaller than expected as we have a rather large awning and it didn’t quite fit- I don’t think there was an option for a larger pitch.
Would have been nice to have some evening entertainment for adults and not just children.
