Malinului Camping

The village of Nămăești (15 minutes’ drive) is known for its 16th-century monastery, a pretty structure built right out of the rock. On the outskirts of the village, just off the E574, the Mausoleul Mateiaș honours the Romanian soldiers who fought in World War I and has a chapel covered in gilded mosaics. To the south of Câmpulung, the Muzeul Automobilului Românesc (15 minutes) focuses largely on cars produced in Romania, such as Dacias and AROs, plus military vehicles and motorbikes. Just down the road from the museum, the ‘Jidova’ Roman Castrum is a well-preserved military fort. Muntenia shares a border with Transylvania, where Bran Castle (an hour and 25 minutes) is a must-visit for visitors to the region – and certainly for fans of Dracula and vampires. Some believe that this atmospheric 14th-century castle perched on a rocky outcrop was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s classic novel.
