Parque Orbitur Canidelo

Both Salgueiros and Madalena beaches are well-known north Portuguese surfing destinations, along with the nearby sands of Aguda and Senhor da Pedra, making up part of the 17 kilometres of beach in the municipality of Vila Nova da Gaia. If you're off to Porto (but of course), a bus to there passes close to the site. You'll need at least a couple of days in this most excellent city, one (at least) around its port caves and old attractions such as the Dom Luis I Bridge, Palácio da Bolsa and Clérigos Tower, and another to take a boat out from Porto along the Douro river. From Porto, take the historic tram to Porto to Foz do Douro, the swish area where the Douro river meets the Atlantic Ocean. A modern addition to these parts is the Teleférico de Gaia cable car, which opened in 2011 to take sightseers on a vastly viewsome trip over the Douro. The Upper Station, on the south side of the river, gives access to Porto's historical area, the city centre, Porto Cathedral and the Lello & Irmãos bookshop; at the Lower Station, hop off for the Porto caves and Douro river cruises.
