Where, like Parque Orbitur Montargil in Portugal's peaceful Ponte de Sor region, all sorts of watery things are available quite close to one's pitch, like windsurfing, waterskiing, boat tours, sailing and jetskiing...? Surely yes, if you're surely sensible. Parque Orbitur Montargil is beside the recreational Montargil lake, about 90 minutes' drive from Lisbon and five kilometres from the 40 dolmens of the Montargil Megalithic Site. (You might very much dig old monuments too.) Off the lake, leisure options at the park include a big outdoor pool surrounded by a solarium, a bar-restaurant, a sports field, table tennis, and wifi in the public areas. Parque Orbitur Montargil also has a launderette and supermarket.

喜欢: Well organised site, we arrived in December so very quiet The showers were clean and the bar and shop were still open. the lake looks beautiful but didn't have time to fully appreciate as we were just passing through.

Get on the water at Montargil lake or sit and fish in these peaceful surroundings, all close to your Parque Orbitur Montargil pitch. Five kilometres away, the megalithic Montargil stones along with the St Andrew Necropolis are the most ancient attractions in the area. The coastal city of lovely Lisbon less than two hours' drive away is one of the oldest in Europe and has been called one of the best beach/ city combos on the continent. Among its many recommended sites are the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga/ National Museum of Ancient Art, the Museu do Teatro Romano/ Roman Theatre Museum, the Lisbon City Museum and the Parque Florestal de Monsanto/ Monsanto Forest Park. Lisbon's also well known for its many festivals such as the Lisbon Book Fair, the MOTELx (Lisbon International Horror Film Festival) and Lisboa Mágica, a world festival of street magic.
