This is a right watery place… Aqua Camping de Rakken (the clue's in the name) is based on the edge of the water, with boat rental for guests and many watery activities easily accessible including sailing, swimming, surfing and fishing. It's among the Frisian lakes, part of an award-winning marina and adjacent both to green peaceful countryside and the lively village of Woudsend with its restaurants, cafés, shops and supermarket.
If instead of watersporting your tastes are more attuned to a) lounging about or b) landlubbing, ta very much, you should also be chuffed to hear that de Rakken has an adjacent beach, and that there's heaps to do around these parts: bike hire is available on site and the friendly team will be happy to share excursion suggestions.
De Rakken runs a recreational programme for kids during high season and has car rental available at reception. Its amenities include toilets and showers, a launderette, a drying room, disabled facilities and a washing-up area.
The site has free wifi.

There are a full 35 watery expanses in the Frisian lakes, most of them popular places for watersports and leisurely days surfing, swimming, sailing and fishing. Waterskiiing, races and boat trips are all available at the Sneekermeer.
For nature spotting, photography and walks, the national parks of Lauwersmeer, Schiermonnikoog, the Drents-Friese Wold and Alde Feanen are all in the region, along with the National Landscape of Southwest Fryslân between Sneek and the Ijsselmeer.
Bike hire is available for those who want to pedal off into the surroundings and explore the Friesland towns and villages.
